    Diamond-film tweeters from B&W

It looks B&W has introduced new high-end tweeters in its 800-series which use single-crystal diamond film grown using Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD).

    They're not cheap, with the entry-level 802D being $12k/pair:

The high-end 800D is even more expensive at $20k-$35k/pair:

A fairly cool premium for a product that using a material (CVD diamond film) that costs only $5/carat to make. Sure beats the recapping business!

    Hi all!

I just bought a pair of ADS L810 speakers, which I've heard are some of the best speakers from that time (late 70's) into the early 80's. I was super excited to test them out and hooked them up and I was very underwhelmed by the treble. The treble was awfully muffled. I've been doing some restoration work on 70's stereos and a couple of speakers here and there so I am really just a beginner. I do know that capacitors in speaker crossovers filter out the lows to allow only the highs up to the tweeters and mids. Inductors filter out the highs to allow the lower frequencies to...

Diamond Core Drill ELU SB43EK, Blown Capacitator

Hi, new to this forum and new to most things electronic component related.

As in my introductory post, I'm good for soldering, fixing up the grandkids console games but that's about it.

I am based in the UK.

17 odd years ago I purchased an ELU diamond core drill, model ELU SB43EK, I had never heard on the brand here in the UK at the time but it has been a faithful tool and has undertaken a number of jobs without issue.

Last week it failed to start when depressing the trigger, initial checks, it wasn't the fuse or plug top, delving further and...
