    Onkyo TX-NR809

    Hello friends.
    I have a ONKYO TX-NR809 Home Thea' .
The unit go to protection mode immediately when I power the unit. The relay click can be heard and the fluorescent display lit for a second and then power go back to Stby mode.
I checked all the output power transistors for any short circuit but all looks good, tried to disconnect other board to get the power turn on but NOTHING!
    Any idea/solution will be welcome.
    Thanks in advance

    Re: Onkyo TX-NR809

Control circuits might have a short?

BTW, the amp could have an open-circuit resistor. That might cause there to be DC on the speaker output. That would put the amp into protection right away...

Check to see if it has more than 2vdc on the speaker relay contacts (the DC sensing for speaker protection is set to detect anything more than 2VDC).

        Hi there,
I checked the DC Voltage on the speakers output and find no DC Voltage.
        Do you have another tip?
        Thanks!

Have you checked for shorts on the output of voltage regulators? Might just be a short, or failed voltage regulator.

Pic would help us point out where to check things

You need to check the DC at the relay input contacts (fed by the amplifier output), not at the speaker terminals since the relay is not activated.

              That's true!

I've seen some amps that short the speaker outputs when the relay is off. (so there is no chance of shorting the amplifier)

Running out of Ideas, hoping someone smart can provide some for my ONKYO TX-SR353 Receiver
                by CDNBrewer
                Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

                Symptoms:
                • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
                • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
                • I swapped the Left and Right surround
                ...

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
                by FrancescoV
                Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
                M:1.00/11107BLP
                D:?.??/????????
                O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

Onkyo-593 No power and now clicking sound
                by Sisko
                Hi all!!

Ok just got a Onkyo SKW-593 sub woofer that has no power person told me that it smoked and that his GF let the volume full when she powered off the amp and when he came to turn it on the sub played but then suddenly smoke was coming out, didn't say from where. So opened it up and saw a resistor made of metal (pic) but can't see any writing on metal par so what ever was written on it was burnt. So I'm kinda stuck here with this. I did ask for a repair or schematics in the other group section and waiting for this but I hope someone here might lend me a hand to try and identify...
