I just picked this system up on Ebay for a great price. Symptoms are the word Philips scrolling across the units LED display and then it freezes. No video, no sound, no response to eject button on Blue Ray player. I searched the internet for a solution and found that this is a common problem but no one shared a solution. A page from the service manual says to check voltage on each pin of connector CN9001 and all my voltages were good except for the 3.3V , I was only getting about 1.8V.The service manual says to replace the power supply board at that point but I didn't want to give in that quickly. I checked the PSU schematic and found the APE1801M step down converter IC puts out the 3.3V so I tried resoldering all of the pins on the IC as well as a couple of the surrounding SMD capacitors. Looks like this took care of it because it powered up fine after that and has been cranking out tunes for the past 2 hours. Just thought I'd share in case someone out there is having the same problem with this unit.

Re: Philips HTS3051B Home Theater Blue Ray - No POWER
Interesting (and encouraging) fix. Congrats!
There's a person selling some BDP1600's for cheap that freeze on the main menu. Apparently a common problem too, but I haven't found any fixes for it yet. I wonder if it's bad caps or bad connection like yours. I might buy one just to see.

Re: Philips HTS3051B Home Theater Blue Ray - No POWER
I have an ESR tester and checked out all of the caps on the power supply board. They all looked good and tested good for ESR. It was just the 3.3V circuit that had a loose connection. I actually found the fix slightly by accident . I wanted to check voltage on pin 1 and pins 5,6 of the APE1801M IC which were hard to get at with my meter so I soldered a jumper to it. When I powered it on to meter it I heard the laser on the blue ray player moving which I had not heard before so I knew something was different. Once I saw it was working I just resoldered the surrounding components as a precaution. It is a common problem from what I've seen researching it on the web, just not sure if always the same fault.
