    Star sound amp problem

    Hi all.
I have a Star Sound 2000w car amp. It started with cracking in the speakers. I opened it up and found the pot marked "level" to be the culprit. I bought a new one but now the sound, on both channels, to be very distorted. There was an ic KIA393 with no output so I replaced it but the problem still the same. I dont find any fault on the mosfets or faulty caps. Any help here please.
    Regards

    Re: Star sound amp problem

Is it possible the speakers have been damaged?

Is there noise when the audio source is off, disconnected or muted?

Basically I'd trace the power section to see if voltages seem right and ripple is at a minimum with no output or continuous tone audio input. Next trace the audio path AC & DC voltages. If all else fails you can probe with a (cheap) speaker leads to hear what it's doing in the signal path but limit current once the signal passes any significant gain (amplification) stages.
