    Ceramic resistor info required

    Hi there i am looking for some advice. I am in the process of reparing a kam kka550 karaoke amp which had blew some transistors and also two ceramic resistors. What i wont to know is the value of the ceramic resistors i think it is
    5 watt 0.25 ohm but not sure because i cant find any anywhere i have tried maplin, rs components but no luck so hopefully some one can tell me if this is correct or not.

      You can use 0.22 ohms which is far more common.

          Ceramic capacitors/resistors - do suppliers matter?

          I want to buy one of those SMD component books so I don't have to spend as much time searching my scrap boards for what I need, specifically ceramic caps and resistors as they seem to be what I spend most of my time replacing. But the only ones I can find are no name brands. Does manufacturer matter as much for SMD parts as it does with electrolytics or is the generic stuff likely to be fine?

          I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...


          The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
          Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

          Upon closer inspection...

          Hey everyone,

          I'm currently working on a mid-70s Sharp Electronic Digital Clock Radio, Model FY-70CH. I found the service manual online, printed it out, and have been studying it for a while. My main reasons for tackling this are: (1) I want to learn electronics and figured I'd start with something I had on hand, and (2) I want to fix its issues. Right now, the radio sounds awful, has about 5V DC at the speaker terminals, and the alarm time setting doesn't work. But I'm not asking how to fix these problems.

          Instead, here's what's been bugging me so far:

          What resistor ohm will work better to repair this waterpik?

          The resistor on this waterpik blew. I changed it with the a similar spec 47ohm 2 watt yageo resistor but it still keeps blowing the resistor. Checking with the multimeter the motor, capacitor, diodes, and thermal fuse all checked normal. Will a higher ohm resistor work better? What ohm resistor will work better to repair this waterpik?           I am curious if a 0402 resistor could go from 43 ohm to 0. In electronics class and my experience a resistor can degrade and gain resistance all the way up to not being able to conduct at all. I have never heard of a resistor decreasing in resistance and becoming 0 ohm or a dead short… that's not the direction they fail… or so I thought.

          I was attempting to remove a wson8 chip on an iMac motherboard and it required a lot of heat, on one side of the chip were 3 0402 resistors that were very close. I popped the chip out unintentionally out of the tweezers and sent those resistors...
