    Yamaha HTR 5990 Troubleshooting

I've got a very temperamental receiver from a friend in the shop right now.

At random times it loses lock on S/PDIF signals and sometimes it will randomly shut down. Loss of S/PDIF and Toslink digital auto detect occurs even in Pure Direct (ie, DSP bypass).

Im guessing something isn't right with the logic supply rail.....any other things to check? There are no obviously blown caps or broken joints. Some joints have excess flux and look a bit crappy but a quick continuity check passes. I'm going to redo those, just to be safe.

Zero experience in repairing audio equipment, but I see a few youtube videos by the "Multimeter Junkie" and he comments about poor soldering on some receivers. See
