    Resistor value - color coding

    Hello electronics expert,

can you please tell me what is supposed value of this resistor?

I'm really having a hard time figuring this out, because black lines on first place means 0 and gold lines are multipliers 0.1.

It seems like colored rings are: black gold gold black orange.

Based on the chart below, I'm guessing .3 ohm, 250 ppm tempco.

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

In this case I believe the last black band indicates non-inductive

Thank you for the reply, but how did you figure this out?

To me, according to the same table
First band is black = 0
        Second is gold = N/A
        Third is gold = N/A
Fourth is black, multiplier 1 (10^0)

        ???

According to the second table from R_J:

        first band black = 0
        second band gold = N/A
third band gold = 0.1 multiplier
        fourth black = tolerance

The first band on your resistor is ORANGE

            Hello R_J

Thank you for the reply. Orange as first is the only way to have 3 in its value, when I look that way, Orange Black Gold Gold Black (3 0 N/A 0.1 250 ppm/K)

            So, this seems as 3 ohm and not 0.3 (30 x 0.1).
Unfortunately, this color scheme is not obvious to me.

Perhaps key observation: if you have a metallic band and it seems to be first or second band... need to flip the resistor around and try again!

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
                by jinu_j
                Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

                1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
                2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
                3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
                4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...
