I would like an explanation of how a laser can measure a product on a conveyor belt

    I saw this on

“How do they do it “

The laser was measuring the diameter and the height of the product and the weight of the product and it was a straight line laser light across the the conveyor belt ( this is all that was shown in the video clip of the laser that was used )

What type of product is this that can do this

I want to thank anyone that knows what of laser this is

Unless the dimensions are related to weigh somehow, the weighing would be done by whatever the item was on, be it a table or conveyor.
The smiley box abusers used devices from https://cubiscan.com/ when I worked there.

How does it exactly work that is what I am interested in

It shines a laser out, it captures the differences in the reflection and with software works out the dimensions.

Thanks for the explanation of how this is done

I have one question how accurate it is it

Some cubiscanners use infrared and not laser but the idea is the same.
I've no reason to think they wouldn't be precise.

When I was a technician, I tested and repaired a machine called a sub-micron particle analyzer. That was in 1986. They use a laser to measure particles suspended in triple distilled deionized water. Alignment and frequency of the laser is critical. The laser bounced off of the particles at different angles and were captured with a photo multiplier tubes. It then calculated the atomic weight of the particles. All this technology came about as a result of High Energy Physics experiments and equations that people like Einstein and Stokes wrote called Brownian motion.

Power DeWalt 12V laser measure from power supply
                by dansity
                Hello,
i got a Dewalt laser measure which uses the 12V batteries to operate. The laser measure is faulty and I want to attempt a repair, never fixed such thing before. You might see a different topic if I fail with the repair
However I do not have dewalt batteries nor want to buy one for 140EUR as the laser tool might have some chance that it is very hard to repair or unrepairable.
I want to power it from my PSU.
The tool has 3 input pins, on the battery it is marked with B-, B+ and ID/TH.
i want to know what is the third pin exactly and what do I need...

                Aiwa ad-wx 717 belt measure
                by falcontech
                Hello
Could someone tell me what size the drive belt of the aiwa ad-wx717 cassette deck is, I would like to buy it independently in my trusted shop, there is a kit online but I find the price exaggerated, unfortunately the original has practically melted. it is a double plate and the belts are the same, the one of the tachometer has remained intact thanks

Hilti PD30 Laser Range meter Error 276
                by Dannyx
Good day folks.....wow, seems like forever since I posted anything here Still alive and well, thank you I guess you could say I've become more independent and able to work stuff out on my own. This one though goes way over my head and I doubt is fixable, but maybe some bright spark out there has an equally bright idea.

So: my Hilti PD30 laser meter quit on me just the other day. It was working fine, I set it down for a while and when I tried using it again it gave me an E276 and wouldn't do anything else. I tried taking out the batteries, all that standard stuff but nothing...

How to correctly measure a mixed low&high current
                by edugimeno
                Hi there!
Im trying to determine the consumtion rates of a module Im testing. Particularly it's a Decawave DWM1001 module, which is expected to use around nanoamps during normal state so a LiFePo4 battery should last months

This module has peak spikes of around 100mA once a second, while the TX module is active, and then goes to sleep for the rest of the time (this is when the uA rates are expected)

But I'm having issues to measure this current.

1.-Using a multimeter. Obviously all I see is values jumping all the time, as this is not expected...

Modifying a Engraving Laser Module with out a TTL Module
                by sam_sam_sam
I bought this laser module a few years ago and did not do anything with because I did not have a TTL module so it sat in project box to do something with at a later date

Well the later date has happened now

What I did to this module is disconnected the cooling fan and going to use with a fan temperature speed controller ( out of a surplus computer switching power supply )

Well now I have found a 15 watt TTL module that I just bought from AliExpress which I should have in a few weeks

Some time later when I have learned to use a laser engraver...
