    Re: Detecting A Bullet

Tech is not usually the best answer for downrange systems. It's easy to damage anything on the far side of the trigger, so it's best to stick with Cheap/Easy.

I do what you're talking about frequently, for 5.7x28 practice. I buy the electric yellow day-glow paper, stack it, and cut it to a size that will patch my targets' impact marks. Even a pellet gun hit shows up instantly on that stuff.

Bonus: I save money by closing up my groups.
When testing electrolytic catzappers, you should always wear an OSHA approved safety squint.

I bought an Arduino configured audio sensor that lets you adjust the ambient sound threshold then anything that exceeds the ambient sound will trigger a pin at 5 volts. It works well and might suit the application. The only thing it won't be able to do is determine which target from multiple targets was actually hit, but that's not a big deal really since visual inspection will be enough in this application.

I'll report back when I test it, but that might be a while.
