eBay Repair Services - How So Cheap?

I've been seeing mail-in repair services on eBay for various electronics equipment.

These prices are so ridiculously cheap how can they charge such low rates? Some are iPhone microsoldering repairs going for $30-60 for same fixes I've seen on some shops' websites charging $100-200

I've looked at feedback and some have tons of positive feedback. I see others charging lower just to compete. Before we know it electronics repair will be $10 for diagnosis/repair for hours of work.

Positive feedback means nothing when it comes to these repairs as the average user only cares if it works or not.

The people who fix these things might put in a wire instead of a fuse or proper SMD 0 ohm resistor. Or they put in a 5A fuse instead of a 3A fuse. Or they may used/salvaged/fake components.

The average user also can't see the solder quality, solder workmanship, etc.

If the device works, average user gives positive feedback. But how long with the repair last using possibly substandard components, workmanship, etc. Once feedback is given, you can't change it. If device fails again, the average user might just get a new device and toss the old one.

Additionally, I have seen a lot of dodgy repairs here on this site and youtube videos so you can expect the same from these low cost ebay services as well.

I should also mention that sellers on ebay who knowingly or unknowingly sell counterfeits/fakes also get positive feedback from the average person who doesn't know any better.

The buyer sees that it "works" and is happy paying 99 cents for an item thinking they bought a real Samsung AC adapter for 99 cents when in fact, it is a knockoff.

True but I imagine it takes away from shops doing quality repairs charging higher prices since the average consumer's only interested in prices.
