    Sanding pins on Electronic components?

Hi guys,i've been wanting to ask you guys,
Is it a good practice to sand pins on an electronic component before to add solder?
i have here a USB port that has this tiny legs and i already lost one port and ordered another one .

it seems to me the 5 pins are hard to solder to the board,it seems to me those pins are not made of good materials, should i sand them first ?

NEVER sand the pins, they are plated to prevent corosion.
anyway, not all solders/fluxes can deal with brass - if you take the plating off brass you may be sorry!

        I have Kester44'' rosin core

also i will try to do the job one more time.i think my issue is more of low vision, the pins are so tiny, would be better off with a microscope, but it's too much money, this time i will use stronger glasses with my branch lens

Jobs like this have become so much easier with a microscope.

Even if your solder has flux, adding a tiny dab of paste flux can work wonders. Especially if you have ROHS parts or solder.

                  Purchasing electronic components
                  by Med-Tech
                  Hi,

I find that being located in Germany, that it is not too easy to purchase smd components other than from Aliexpress. The problem with that is, that it takes a while to receive the parts. It would be highly appreciated, if others located in this part of the world could advice me where (if at all) they would recommend to get these components.

                  As always, thanks in advance.

Sparkle 1200W PSU MAGNA Model: SPM1200AXJ8 - Broken. Need help identifying components. Any schematics available?
                  by Sam Scarbo
My Sparkle (SPI) PC power supply has broken. Originally, there was totally no power output. The 5V-standby was not there. I have replaced a few bulged capacitors but not helping.

I was trying to do more troubleshooting but burned more components. Some got burned so badly that the markings were gone. And also, the markings of a few transistors were gone because the component surface was worn out somehow.
If you happened to have disassembled the same PSU model, please help to provide the markings of some of these components.

See the attached two pictures of the small...

Please help to identify the components on Surface Laptop GO3, model 2013, i5-1230U
                  by User2025
                  Hi,

I am working on a Surface Laptop GO 3, which is the new release 2024 with a i5-1230U processor. Originally, it had a 256GB SSD, then the owner attempted to upgrade it to 1TB SSD by himself. "Surprisingly", it did not boot afterwards, then changed back to the original SSD, did not boot either.

It turned out to be that just a couple of components had been knocked off when the owner was trying to get off the SSD cover with his beloved screw driver.

I do not have another board of same model. Although I have a Laptop Go 2, the layout of that bit...

                  Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
                  by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...
