    Amplifier v Oscillator

This foxed me today ,built an amplifier during the week which is part of my radiation detector I have been working on,worked OK bit noisy it is very high gain.
Today cut up a coke can to make a little screened box to reduce the noise, it decided it didn't want to be an amplifier any more it was going to be a HF oscillator !
I had this problem before in the past ,it just disappeared on it own?
I tried a few different PP3 batteries ,each one gave me a different frequency?
So I used my bench power supply once I got the thing quiet it was OK ,went back to the batteries ,I noticed it worked with one of the batteries if I held it in my hand ,that made me think.
I have got an ESR meter I made some years ago so I did some checking ,one of the batteries didn't even register on my meter ( I dont actually have ohms on the scale) it must have been over 10 ohms.
The zinc carbon batteries do seem to have quite a bit of internal resistance whereas a Duracell Alkaline battery was more like 0.2 ohms.

    Re: Amplifier v Oscillator

    Zinc carbon cells are terrible.
Zinc chloride cells are only slightly better.

Given the cost difference between alkaline and zinc carbon, in an application using primary cells your best bet is to use alkaline.

Rechargeable 9Vs are pretty poor, the capacity is too low. Any product I design now avoids 9V where-ever possible. You can get a lot more total energy capacity from two AA cells than a 9V (almost 3x) plus the rechargeable AA's don't suck, and are pretty cheap. The only disadvantage is the need to implement a boost converter (but such converters are so simple now, requiring only a few parts...)

      Replacing 2xAA / 2xAAA alkaline batteries with Li-Ion / LiPo battery?
      by m1ch43lzm
Hi, i have this RadioShack IR thermometer Cat. No 22-170 which takes 2xAAA batteriss, I've tried with NiMH AAA rechargeables but it complains about low voltage, it flashes an "empty" battery and doesn't measure anything, even with freshly charged 2xAAA NiMH, so i have to "borrow" the batteries from my multimeter when i want to use it
I'm thinking abour replacing the 2xAAA batteries with a small LiPo battery that fits inside that space, but the voltage would be too high (4.2v)

I'm open to suggestions on whether i should use an LDO or another type of voltage...

      Cyberpower cps1500avr not charging batteries
      by carrzkiss
      Hello, all.

      Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.

I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
      I quickly removed everything...

Where do repair shops buy MB replacement batteries?
      by howardc64
Order my parts from mobilesentrix.com and iPhone batteries have been excellent. Recently got 3x bad A1534 (2015) batteries. All would work until ~30-40+% and drop to < 10% instantly. Typical sign of cheap batteries.

Perhaps the less popular A1534 model's aftermarket batteries are more source limited. Just find it surprising quality from mobilesentrix (usually fairly high quality aftermarket parts) have been so poor.

BTW, this isn't the only defective parts I've had from mobilesentrix. Amongst others including iPad Air touch screen and A1989 touch bar (display was...

Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor
      by Astonished
      Hi friends of electronics

What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

Please help me fix this circuit.

Has anyone had issues with Rayovac Alkaline batteries leaking
      by sam_sam_sam
I have had several issues with batteries leaking what is going on here

I have emailed the company about this issue and I am waiting for and wanting a reply to this issue

Because I have had a Fluke meter FC3000 battery terminal break and I have not yet found a replacement battery terminals for this model I found it for other Fluke meters but I do not know if they are the exact same battery terminals or not

The email that I sent to the company is very detailed about the issue and that meter has been damaged because of this issue and a battery operated kitchen...
