They'd probably run screaming if they saw mine, then.
It's not just analog, it's RF input only, and even then you better be broadcasting on a VHF band!

I'm still using a 35" Sanyo that's at least 10 years old. The cable company desperately wants me to convert so they don't have to maintain the analog equipment. I won't give them the satisfaction, yet anyway, they are constantly raising the bill.

i'm surprised it works if your serious.
the last philips widescreen tv's had a great picture, but the narrow-neck tubes all suffered from the guns shorting out.
same problem with the thompson sets - same tube.

well japan got nuked, first physically and then financially.

so most tv's now are either Turkish or Chinese.

i suspect the chinese will start making better and slightly more expensive products soon.
i already see this with radio equipment.

What a stupid move - but ironically it's the consumer's own fault for wanting continually bigger and cheaper TVs...

    Is there anything decent left?

Yeah, I love plasma over regular LCD.

I'm glad we got our 32" panasonic LCD TV many years ago. It has rubycon and nichicon caps in it!
No vestel "3A diodes in parallel", no crappy capacitors.

Vestel used to make plasmas for Hitachi. Well it used a Vestel main board and external chassis but the panel and PSU was Hitachi. And badged as Hitachi. Really odd, I guess Hitachi decided it was cheaper to have Vestel do the non-panel stuff.

Plasma was pretty much niche after about 2009, shame it died out, but ah well I got a Kuro so I don't really care...

why all the plasma talk? vestel will never make plasma unless it's a small ball for a fraction of a second in the back of the tv somewhere!

Most of the plasmas I get in are samsungs and most aren't even that old I personally dont like them but they do have a good picture when they are working.

The real late model plasmas, especially post-2011. Even more likely when the model code is TCxxxxxxxxxx. IIRC.

Vestel sets really are utter garbage, there's very little in the way of redeeming factors, other than them using being fairly easy to fix.

if it lasts 5 years you did o.k. because it costs much less than a Samsung/LG or Vestel in disguise.
Or just get an external smart box, upgrade the box not the TV as required. Buy a good used 1080p TV (as 4K really doesn't matter until you get into 70"+) and use that with it. Such as a Kuro, or a VT60 plasma.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
    by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

    Panasonic TX-48CX400B 50" (Vestel) - Damaged COF's? Repair Possible?
    by Russ17
    Hi All,

I was gifted a 50" Panasonic (Vestel Version) LCD, which the previous owner had disassembled and gave to me completely in parts, which had some failed backlight LED's.
I replaced the LED's and got it working, but found some issues with the picture which I have never experienced before.

Having looked on YouTube and various forums, it seems that one of the COF gate drivers has failed.
None appear overheated or physically damaged, but if the gate drivers on the left side of the panel are touched with a bare hand while the set is on, the picture...

Vestel tv, how to flip the image?
    by France_53
Hello everyone from Italy, I'm here to ask for help on a Vestel TV, I've had a Vestel TV branded "XD" with a broken screen for years, but now I've found a Telefunken (still Vestel but older) and I've mounted the panel on the "XD" TV, it works, but the screen is upside down, given that Vestel does not allow you to rotate the image from the service menu, does anyone know how to solve the problem? the original panel is marked ves315WNDS-2D-N12 while the main board 17mb110, the panel I mounted instead in the tv (from the telefunken) is a ves315WNDA-02. ... It is not worth repairing...
