I am giving up on the Plasma as I don't know what else I can do to fix it. Luckily, I have the money to buy an inexpensive replacement.
I'm currently using a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD panel that was manufactured in 2007. I absolutely hate it, but it was a cheap stop-gap.
I have had my eye on this TV as "Worst Buy", currently has them on sale:

I'm not that familiar with Vizio, but some people rave about their LED flat panels as they have Full-Array Back lighting instead of edge-lit. I don't know much about their quality but my Samsung Plasma was not exactly dependable. I'd say it will be at least as dependable as it was (lasted 7 years with heavy use).
Anyone have any experience with this TV? The smart TV function although neat is not all that important to me. I have a PS3, and a laptop that I use currently to stream video. I do like the fact that this set is 240hz (or at least 120 hz), and has gotten very good reviews on Cnet, and other sites. I also like that it has a QWERTY keyboard built into it's remote control. I may just end up using the Smart function often if I like the remote.
Have the manufacturers finally wised up with regards to the "capacitor plague" and stopped using Chinese caps? The caps in my Plasma were garbage Chinese crap, which led to PS issues.
thanks in advance
