Netgear router WGT624 Ver.4 flash memory file

    Hi again,
Does anybody has this router and wants to help?
I need the flash memory MX25L3205 binary file to reprogram my breaked router.
I know it's too much but, who knows? Maybe someone has it and can help me.
    TIA

did you relpace the chip, or just corrupt the flash?

becaue if you corrupted the flash you can recover it with a serial interface on the board.

I have replaced the chip by dissoldering it and reprogramed A BLANK NEW one with the webflash dd-wrt firmware but no luck. I need the original binary readen with a programmer device. I have already accept the fact that this machine is breaked but hope dies last as they said...!

Re: Netgear router WGT624 Ver.4 flash memory file

you need to program the start of the chip with the bootloader called CFE
i dont have it for that router so you need to search.

          question:
did you pull a 2meg flash to replace it with a 4meg?
if you did then you can copy the CFE from the old one, but you must make changes with a hex editor to show the new flash size.

No, i have replaced it with the same flash memmory. My mistake is that i have already reprogramed unsuccesfully it's own flash before i save the binary for backup reasons.

You probably need to use JTAG to reprogram the chip.
Here's some starting info about that:

              http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/JTAG

I've done it to a Belkin router, finding the JTAG connection points on the ckt board is the first hurdle then you need a "wiggler" cable to connect the JTAG connections to the LPT port on a PC, then use a tftp program to shoot the code to the chip from the PC.

Re: Netgear router WGT624 Ver.4 flash memory file

I have looked in the link you gave me but there are some "directives" i should not overcome.
As i noticed the total cost for having access to this jtag system will totaly be about 25$ (device +donation) which i dont have them.
The second thing is that i need the cfe for my WGT624 V4 router and i can't find it so far.
In conclusion if someone has this cfe file for this router, or even better the bin from original flash chip, please send a post.
                TIA

Re: Netgear router WGT624 Ver.4 flash memory file

i have a CFE for wgr614 if it has the same ram.

the jtag software is free on sourceforge btw.
                  http://tjtag.sourceforge.net/

if you never want to use the factory firmware you can use REDBOOT instead of CFE.
search about it at the DD-wrt forums.

stj@ Thank you for helping me.
The only thing i want is to unbrick this device, no matter what kernel or firmware it will have.
About JTAG, my device has only 6 pins for serial port connection. No JTAG connector though. If anyone knows more about it, please post here.
As i can guess, the only possible sollution must be a simple binary file which i can transfer to my dessoldered flash memmory chip by a programmer and cross my fingers...

I wonder if anyone has a dump flash binary file to use it with my usb programmer and reprogramming my flash chip. Also please give some instuctions about config fuses.

Concerning JTAG, it can be an arduous process but it does not have to cost much if you make you own cable from an old parallel printer cable and a few resistors. A lot of routers do not have JTAG pins on the board but do have solder points to make JTAG connections to. The hard part is finding where the solder points are on the board.
