    Axial Resistors help

    Hello all hope you all well
    I just want to make sure I got this right.

    Brown Green Brown Gold

    To me it looks like 180 ohms, I can't see any green but LED lighting does mess up colours.
    I don't see a use for such a low value resistor on the SMPS primary, where that part is. Usually a resistor like that is a bleeder or snubber or startup resistor and much higher value.
    What does the part connect to? pin 8?
    TOP242GN looks odd in your pic, there is no pin 6 but you have pins and a blob of solder there, and 6-7 tied together does not match the datasheet.

        OK what is this different board pic? You have Rev. 001 or 002? Eek board is going for $700 on eBay OUCH.

        What's wrong with the resistor R46, what does it measure?

        In many other pics it looks like 180 ohms but if you think it's a green verses gray stripe then maybe ask someone else for an opinion. Size is 2-3W and I would use a fusible, flameproof resistor there.
        Not clear what it is powering. I would carefully trace out it's connections, after discharging the big high voltage cap. The DC SMPS does not need it so it must be for something else, maybe a valve.
        C29 10uF 50V is a critical part for the DC power supply, if it's misbehaving. For the TOP222GN

          Hey everyone,

          I'm currently working on a mid-70s Sharp Electronic Digital Clock Radio, Model FY-70CH. I found the service manual online, printed it out, and have been studying it for a while. My main reasons for tackling this are: (1) I want to learn electronics and figured I'd start with something I had on hand, and (2) I want to fix its issues. Right now, the radio sounds awful, has about 5V DC at the speaker terminals, and the alarm time setting doesn't work. But I'm not asking how to fix these problems.

          Instead, here's what's been bugging me so far:

          hi all,

          first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask

          i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).

          what i've found so far:
          - the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
          - shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
          - not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms....

          My beloved 2007WFP just died on me. It has a green blinking light that just cycles through various display numbers. For a while I noticed it would blink slightly like the refresh rate was off. Nothing I have done has been successful in turning it on. So I took it apart and looked at the USB board since many people have had problems with the resistors under the silicon blob. I looked at the various other boards for the obvious signs such as blown caps, bad fuses, burn marks etc. Nothing looked obvious. I also checked most of the caps with an ESR meter and they checked out good.

          Hello,

          I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

          So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
          Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

          Spent some time downloading the Service...

          Hot Air Blew Away Resistors Near Bios

          Hi All - I'm in the midst or reprogramming the bios on my gen1 Surface Laptop Studio and I accidentally blew away 2 resistors nearby the bios. I don't have another board to measure values of the missing resistors and schematics aren't available, bbut the bios is a 6x5mm Winbond WSON8, W25R256JWPQ model. The traces are conductive to Pins 3 and 7 (IO2 & IO3 respectively) so I have reason to believe they are 10k pull up resistors since IO2&3 pins are used for Quad SPI instructions.

          Does anyone with more knowledge, and experience than I, know if this is the case?
