    need cheap multimeter...

Hey guys, i'm looking for a cheap multi meter and i found like 2of them. One is a velleman dvm810 and the other is a a&d weighing ad-5526 multimeter. Now i think dvm810 is pretty good for 10 bucks. I probably won't use it that much. What do you guys recommend for a cheap value? Thanks for replies.

Do you need it right away? If not, you can get some really good deals on ebay on non Fluke brands.

Recently, I lost on 2 separate ebay bids for name brand (not Fluke) True RMS multimeters. Both are around $100 new. The winning bids were $7.05 and $6.55 respectively.

Either one of the above is much better than the $10 options.

Look for names like Ideal, UEI, Greenlee, Amprobe, Meterman, Extech, and BK Precision. I managed to get a good Amprobe 15XP for 99 cents on ebay.

PS. I like Fluke multimeters and I have 2 of them, but they always sell for a premium (even used) and in some cases they are justified. Both my Flukes are used. I got the Fluke 75 for $20 and Fluke 12 for $30.

Recommend a decent Multimeter on the cheap
      by aaronkatrini
      Hi all,

I was looking to upgrade my main multimeter (Asita MD591) with something that has more features. I'll use it mostly for board diagnostic and diy repairs. I've been eyeing out many of those multi-function ones from Aliexpress but can't seem to make my mind up. Here are the features that I'm looking after:

      - Autorange
      - DC volts up to 30V
      - Accurate Resistance
      - Diode test (Beep mode)
      - Frequency up to 200MHz
      - Capacitanze up to 5000uF
      - as cheap as possible

Other functions are not needed but those which are needed...

      Fluke 289 multimeter not working
      by Pauldg1
I have a Fluke 289 multimeter which does not work.
Have anyone an idea what could be the cause?
When I turn on the device only the green led is continuously on, and strange stripes are present in lcd screen. I can only turn off the device by removing the batteries.

      Any suggestions will be appreciated...

How To Test a P-channel Trench Mosfet Using A Multimeter In Diode Mode
      by dj8452000
I am new to electronics and I'm understanding most of what I'm reading but I have a mosfet on my board that I've identified as a P-channel Trench Mosfet. I haven't a clue how to test this and what I should expect to see with the multimeter probes. I am hoping someone with years more experience than myself can help me understand how to use a multimeter to read this. Please look at the drawing I have attached to this and can you try to explain to me what I should be doing with my multimeter in diode mode and what results I should expect from a good mosfet?...

ASUS GU502GV not powering on - 1285A hot
      by yayayee
      Hello,

I have a laptop that isn't turning on. When I disassemble it and plug in the power connector with the pcb by itself, I can see with a thermal camera I bought that TPS51285A is the only thing getting hot.

So of course, the first thing I do is google the laptop model and the IC, and it just happens that I stumble upon a video by Northridgefix attempting to repair the exact same problem, only for it to catch on fire.

I thought that maybe I'd be lucky so I bought a 1285A, that came in as a 1285B. The only difference I can see between them is that the 1285B...
