Honestly not sure where it fits, but maybe someone comes to look for a solution to this thinking it's faulty electronics
Basically, I have a Samsung ML-1710P printer which is pretty much identical to 1510, 1610 etc and a couple of days ago I accidentally knocked it off a chair so it fell down from about half a meter high.
From that point on, it was printing only the right side of the page so I assumed the printer has two heating lamps or two lasers and one of them broke down so I opened it up.
It turns up the printer has a sort of very wide U metal part that's pushed inside the printer when the toner/drum assembly is inserted in the printer, making a hole so that the laser or whatever that is can directly heat up the drum from the toner.
Due to the fall, the left side of the wide U got bent, so now when the toner/drum is inserted, the metal part would be pushed inside diagonally and only half of the hole would be open.
Anyway.. not sure if I explained it right but the solution was using some pliers to bend back the metal sides so that when toner/drum is inserted both sides of the metal part go inside the printer.
ps. if you want to test the printer while open like this, you have to press on a lever on the right side -that tells the printer the paper door is closed. While keeping that lever down, press the button for about 3 seconds and release and the printer after a brief warm up time it will print a test page.
