    Solar Panel + Iphone

    Hello,

I am interested in modding my iphone 3g to have a solar panel built into the back of it in some way. After searching the web I have seen nothing about anyone trying this. There are a lot of external solar charging devices with their own batteries but nothing integrated. I've even seen cases with their own batteries and solar panels for the iphone. Why not have the solar panel connect directly to the iphone battery? I've repaired many iphone so disassembly, reassembly, and modding would be no problem but I have no experience with electronics. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

bad idea to connect it directly to the battery.
it needs some kind of charging circuitry, otherwise the voltage will fluctuate all over the place (depending on how much light falls onto the solar panel) and the panel would probably act as a load to the battery if there's no light, so you would end up discharging the battery and probably damaging both the panel and battery.. (and in the worst case, the iphone itself..)

      Will,
      What Scenic said is true.
      A few other things.

How much is charge current for an I phone?
      Don't own one so I can't say.
      That will determine panel size.

      Another thing is human nature.
Let's say we do build a solar charger into a personal device.

Most people will get the idea that it's ok to leave it on a dash board all day.

In this part of the world near Washington DC during the summer we get temps in the 100 degree F range, the temp in the car will go past 150F.

Very few examples of consumer electronics are going to be happy working in that range. Now add LiON batteries, high temp's and large injection of voltage and current, that's just begging for an unplesant burn spot on the dash and a smoke stain on the glass.

Im sure the idea has been thought of over the years and scrapped just after the first test article detonates.

      Be well there.

        Cyberpower cps1500avr not charging batteries
        by carrzkiss
        Hello, all.

        Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.

I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
        I quickly removed everything...

Another project idea for a battery bought from Battery Hookup with a good BMS board
        by sam_sam_sam
        https://batteryhookup.com/products/n...-2900mah-cells

One note these battery packs are below 10 volts and the BMS protection board has locked them off from having any voltage on the BMS output wires I have tested three of them so far and voltage is around 8 volts it not an issue because it testing about 9.2 amp hours

The price of this offer has gone up sense I bought these two boxes

I bought two boxes of these batteries but there is a catch to the these battery packs

The BMS protection board does work but it...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
        by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
        by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

        tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

        QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
        by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....
