old caps

I have some old game consoles that have been sitting around for 20+ years, that still works, but I am wondering about the caps.

Should I leave them be, pull them and check them, or just recap them.

check if they're bulging/bloated or leaking. if not, leave them alone.
if they do, replace asap

Ok and thanks for the info.

I will leave them be. The caps looked fine when I cleaned the contacts in the console and carts.

Are we talking about a SNES old enough to have the removable sound module? There are two small caps in there, that if they leak, the traces will be destroyed.

I have an Atari 2600, Atari 2600 jr, NES, and SNES.

I've only checked the NES. Others to be check when I have time. Waiting for for gamebits to check the SNES and game carts.

Check for leaking lithium backup cells in the SNES carts! As well as LOZ/AOL and any other save carts for the NES...
