parts subbing and swapping (new and confused)

i was wondering if i could get advice about part replacement namely things in a TO-220 case

i have 2 out right now from a small fridge and one has a part number SF1004G (rectifier) and the other is a J13007-1 (NPN transistor)

when i google for data sheets or replacement i can find the transistor but it is called a

KSE13007 High Voltage Switch Mode Application
GE13007 NPN SILICON TRIPLE DIFFUSED MESA TYPE TRANSISTOR
    PHE13007 Silicon Diffused Power Transistor

and it goes on and on like this for 20 or 30 different options. they are all slightly different part number and all have a different name. my question is are these all the same thing? will any of them work for my application? or do i need the exact replacement part number?

my other question is for substitutions what are the most relevant specs that i can line up with my parts at my house so i dont have to keep ordering stuff from MCM (which is killing me on shipping and handeling) and so i dont have to keep running to the store

i was hoping that if i match up something like emitter/base volts and/or NPN vs PNP i could make an intelligent guess when substituting parts.im just not sure what would be the deciding specs to look at. or do all the specs have to line up exactly the same?

13007 is the key word. as long as the specs match, it shouldn't be a problem putting another 13007 NPN Power Transistor in there..

which specs are the most relevant though?

how is this if i line up

      collecter base 700v
      collecter emitter 400v
      emitter base 9v
      make sure it is NPN

if i get those 4 things to match should it work? or can i just jam any NPN TO-220 in there (the second option is really what i am hoping for but i think i already know the answer)

the above values plus the amperage it can handle (8A continuous, 16A pulsed)

if the new transistor matches or exceeds the collector voltages and the amperage (higher voltage / amps), and the emitter base value is close, it should work..

edit: at least if nothing else is fried and the new one is also NPN and TO-220

"beta" is important too (hfe) .
not just any old transistor that is correct in polarity (pnp/npn) , CE breakdown voltage , etc , is acceptable ...
the gain has to fall within a given percentage as well .

there is latitude in the specs ... but this depends on the circuit parameters .
subbing parts by other than direct suggested replacement (ie : ecg 123A) found by cross referencing in a book requires some knowledge of how semiconductors work and what is going on with the circuit you are working on .
there is no substitute for knowledge in this area ... a few books and research will go a long way towards helping you become competent in this .

as for what to stock ... it depends on what you are doing or going to do .
for example , you would not want to stock a bunch of 3.3 volt logic level switching fets if you were going to do a lot of audio work .

When I search for J13007-1 I come up with Fairchild FJP13007 FJP13007H1TU TO-220. Is there a logo on that transistor?
            sig files are for morons

Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01 Schematic and Parts List
              by Mark D
The TV is a Samsung UN65JU67ODFXZA Version TD01. I replaced the power source board and the TV is now working, but I decided to try and troubleshoot the old board to fix at the component level. Trying to get a schematic and a parts list has proven to be an issue. Trying on my own, I can't tell you how many times my Norton security has flagged sites as "malicious". I ordered a service manual from ServiceManuals.net, paid $16.99 and got 66 pages of everything BUT schematics and component parts list! Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Some of the surface mounted component parts...

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
              by ttmi100x
              Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

              Upon closer inspection...

              SVOD4 PCB pictures + parts
              by 2elw
Hey, I find it very absurd that the SVOD4 costs so much and has zero documentation. I had no other choice than to buy it to unlock ECs, if there was any documentation or firmware avalible I could've made it or something simmilar. Anyways here are some of the most important parts:

STM32H723VGT6 MCU - It's a microcontroller by STMicroelectronics and its the whole brain of the SVOD4. It has flash memory for the firmware which can be updated by the SVOD4 program. Its also powered by the AMS117 which converts 5v into 3.3V. 7€ on AliExpress.

              GW1N-UV9UG169C6/I5 FPGA - Its a...

Behringer Eurolive B205D repair - help identifying transistor
              by magneh
              Hello
Got this speaker from a friend , defective. Power led comes on and off , in a loop.
Disassembled, got the board out, and after a bit of measuring I found a low resistance on a 5v6 line. With a bit of current I found a transistor heating up on that line (labeled T1 and 113 as on pic).
After removing this guy, I got a value of 0.7 in diode mode on that 5v6 line, which before had 0.02 or something like that.

I tested powering it up without the IC, and the speaker turns on and stays on, and works fine

Still, I need to replace this transistor....

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
              by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...
