i wouldnt buy used cells - not worth the risk
specially if you dont know if they had the shit kicked out of them with some huge current device like a scooter or lawn mower!

I would only do that as a last resort but before I would do that I would modify the case of the label maker

I do not have a battery holder for a 18500 battery size I was suffering on the internet last night looking for some 18500 battery cells when I stumbled on this website and it was about testing 18500 if you do not have a battery holder he used a sliding clamp that you can buy from Home Depot or Lowe's for clamping wood together when you need to glue two pieces together but he used a copper strip about 1/4”inch wide and about 2 or 3 inches long I personally did not like doing it that way but did it like this here is a picture of it

It is working better than I expected it to but I like the fact that it has rubber feet I drilled a hole for a 6-32 flat head machine screws in the center of the clamp foot on both sides and used the wire harness for my battery testing machine that I had extra used one nut against the fat head screw and a crimp terminals one on each side and went through the clamp foot and another nut on each side and marked the positive side red and the negative side black

What is nice about this this battery holding jig is that I can use any size battery cell I want to use on it up to 4.5 inches long

Here is a website link to the clamp that I use and going buy a few more clamps for several more battery holding device jigs for testing odd ball sizes

      https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-4...3191/204987956

Let me know what you think of creation that came up with an idea that I saw on YouTube video

There is a correction on the size of the clamp used I put 4.5” inch but actually it is 6” inch but exactly same style but with feet are bigger more room for the screws on each foot

Here is the results of best battery in the set of two in both bunch of battery cells

This is almost the worst battery charging/discharging cycle I have seen a long while ( graph chart shows to steep of a decline and shows to steep incline I am surprised that it a little bit over 900 millimeters before it drops drastically

This definitely not worth $12.00 a cell that is the reason I asked for a refund I thought at first that may SkyRc battery tester was having an issue with monitoring the voltage/current but I can see that this is not the case

But this typically of poor quality Chinese made battery cells and I am surprised that Panasonic puts there name on such poor quality battery cells

I found some Sanyo battery cells that are supposedly made in Japan but I have to wait until the refund credit is applied to my account before I reorder hopefully better quality battery cells this time around

Here is where I got my idea for my creation from this YouTube video below

        https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/th...y-test.104662/

The last two pictures are where I got my idea from

Here is something that you might find interesting about the test on one of the battery cells in the 5200 label maker battery pack has a battery failure

The second picture is a battery cell from one of my solar panels that I have it is also not worth a shit

I am testing some 18650 batteries for a tool that the rivet installation part of the tool broke but I decided to use when I need to drill out rivets that have gone bad so I change the battery holder jig from 21700 to the 18650 battery jig

Because the original battery cell are Chinese made and everyone of them is completely dead no voltage when I was using it the running time was not great in the first place I thought about putting better battery cells and about time was about to do this riveting part of the tool went bad so it just sat in its case and I kind a forgot about it saw it the other day and because it has a set of drill bits that fit in the case so this is reason for bringing it back to life

Unfortunately the draw back about this tool is the riveting part of tool can not be use on an in pack tool is because the riveting part of tool screws on to the power tool part of it now the inpack tool does have quite enough power to install 1/4-20 rivets with no problem now you install bigger bolts but then it strain to install them and that is how rivet part of tool broke one other issue it had was it had to much power for 8-32 and sometimes to much power for 10-32 screws it would sometimes stripping the threads right out of rivet

When I bought a replacement tool for installing threaded rivets I bought the style that is separate from the impact tool which you can use and impact tool you want so I bought the new Milwaukee impact tool that has torque control on it and do not have the issue with it stripping out the threads unless I hold the power switch to long then it still can happen

Well I have finished testing eight 1865-30q battery cells and the test results are very good for slightly used battery cells from Battery Hookup that bought awhile back in fact I only checked the voltage on them did not even test one yeah I should have tested a couple of them but did not probably because I really did not have anything in mind other rebuild some Ryobi single cell battery packs that I still have not gotten to because I have 3 and 4 amp battery packs that I use when I need or two of when doing a project

The test results are from 2.922 to 2.928 very close to each very good the highest one was 2.939 to 2.884 the lowest and one was 2.901

Here is the tool that I replaced the battery cells in it works perfectly fine now maybe even better than it did new
The only issue I had was because these battery cells are a little fatter than the original ones I had to modify the top of the battery pack enclosure so the release mechanism would work correctly but that fine

In fact now it is a 2.9 amp hour battery pack instead 1.3 which what was in it

I put another set of those battery cells on the battery testing machine I am getting them ready for one of the Ryobi single row battery packs that self discharge syndrome or there is just one or two cells bad in the pack

The battery operated tabbing machine the battery cells in it are not very good can someone tell what is the maximum current load capacity on these they are a “SDL-606080” they are 60mmX60mmX8 mm I can find them on Aliexpress from anywhere $4.00 to $11.00 but in none of listings dose it tell you the only thing says is a range from 50C to 90C and 2.5 amp hours pre battery cell this does not tell me what I need to because I going to build a battery pack for it

Because I do not want over build this battery pack but I do not want under build either
one note these replacements battery do not have a hole in the center of the terminal like the original one does which means that I bought a replacement battery cell I would have put the hole in there myself wow this would be really fun to do and take a chance that it would rip the terminal right out of the battery cell I do not think so I will build my own thank you

The only reason I going through this rabbit hole with the battery operated tab welding machine is it works very well until the battery drops down in voltage and I know that it is time to recharge it again

I going to test these two pouch battery cells some time this week at a 10 amp load and see what results I will get do this endeavor
When I first bought this device the running time was better than it is now and it has self discharge syndrome part of it has to do with the memory portion of the device when you take power away from it looses the parameters that you set in it

This device STJ recommend to me in another post when I was looking for another battery tab welder

I had to resort to buying individual battery cells instead of getting one that was already together with the BMS protection board because apparently I could get it from a company Australia and they use Australian Post they say they they use FedEx but it did not give that option to use them for shipping so I bought some from another eBay seller that carries Sanyo battery cells in this size so let see if they test before

Ok are they really that bad huh I did not know that

I might make a battery pack out of the two pouch battery cells that are in the battery tab welder they are not bad cells they were not meant to be used in battery tab welder because they are not high current capable battery cells but should work fine in the heat shrink tubing labeling machine

There is a correction for the size of the pouch battery cell 60mmX80mm and the thickness is 6mm not 8 mm because on this numbering system the first set of numbers are the thickness then the size of the pouch battery cell

There is 7.2 mm thickness pouch battery that is also 60mmX80mm

contact fnirsi if it's a bad pack, they are a good company and may sort something out

The issue not that it has a bad battery pack it is that they are not high current capacity output versions so it drains the battery pack very quickly plus it has a small drain because of the parameter memory retention feature so because of these two issues instead of two battery cells they should have put three or four battery cells in it because when I was looking for high current capacity pouch battery cells it is not until you are in a much bigger pouch battery size that you can the high current capacity pouch battery size Battery Hookup has some but you have to buy a box of 30 and the size is 42mmX142mm the thickness is 7.2 mm pouch battery cells but the positive and negative terminals on opposite ends of the battery cell and on the battery cell I am referring to they are on the same end

This is the reason I going to use four 21700 battery cells in this device

“Samsung 21700 3000 milliamperes 35 amp power output battery”

Now I will probably have to use tabbing strips to hook up the battery cells to the board if there is enough space between the battery cells and the enclosure if not I will have to use 18650 battery cells and they are 25 amp current capacity output type

One note that the two battery cells are glued together and I did not want to separate them and ruin them so I just tested together and iI have plan on using them for something else later

The issue is not with the manufacturer of the battery operated battery tabbing machine it me is the issue I want to be able to finish a battery tabbing project and not have to stop and recharge the battery pack for several hours and then continue again

Or have to charge the battery pack before I use it to a battery tabbing project

So if I want to be able to do it the way I want to use it then I would have modify it so it can do this I would just have look at the temperature sensor read out so I do not have thermal issues with the device

you need very high peak currents, i would be looking at drone batteries or maybe one of those car jumper packs

I thought about doing this but when I thought about this some more I realized that I had a couple of these car jump batter packs and everyone of them the battery cells got swollen and were useless so this is not going to be very good solution plus the cost of them expensive for what they are and I have not been very impressed with pouch battery cells in the first place

It makes a difference where battery cells are made the ones in Japan versus the ones that are made in China charge and discharge graphics curves look at the two different curves

These are the 18500 size battery cells
                                        1.615
                                        1.613
                                        1.607
                                        1.603
These battery cells are very close to each other these are 1.700 milliamperes hours they did not get to over 1.7 but they are very close to though
I will be putting these battery cells in the two battery packs and charge them up and start using them

Well the battery cells transplant was successful and it is now charging the next one I will have to decide which one is the worse of the three but one of them is a knockoff one that came with the heat shrink tubing labeler I not sure which one is the one that was failing after a couple of labels with the backlight being on for each one

Wow what a difference with this battery pack it does not take very long for it to charge to 80% but the outer label machine does get some what warm but the battery pack is a little warm but not by much
