I used the heat shrink tubing labeler Saturday for most of the day marking the two different electrical outlets circuits on the wall of my new shed
This label machine makes doing this job so much easier to do than pealing labels off of a page and rolling it around the wire to me just a pain in the a**

I have the rechargeable battery pack that is made for the this label machine and one thing I noticed was that it would last the whole day doing what I was doing but it took hours to recharge the battery pack because apparently because it charges the battery pack very slowly which is a good thing but I have to keep this in mind when I am using it so I do not have a low battery connection I think the reason for this is because it also takes regular battery cells and the battery fuel gauge is made for the regular battery cells not the rechargeable battery pack

Well I found another label maker the same exact model again at the right price for a used one with the battery pack and switching power supply so now I have one for 1/4” one for 3/8” and one for 1/2” so I do not have to change cartridges out just because I want to use a different wire size if I come across another one so I have one for 3/4”

By doing this I probably have invested enough money for a brand new one with the plastic hard case with a rechargeable battery pack with the battery charger but do not need a brand new I need several used ones so I do not need to change cartridges in and out this is my reasoning for doing it this way

These heat shrink tube labeling machines are going to make my life much easier when we re-wire a machine at work that has an issue with the safety circuit that goes to a safety relay system and what makes this complicated is that this machine has two PLC and the safety relay is also the type that is also a PLC type as well with several smaller safety relay systems this most complicated machine system that I have ever worked on and when it goes into a safety system error it is extremely difficult to figure out what problem it is and even with technical support it still difficult sometimes to get the machine back up and running again

Because this is a uniform company and there is a lot of steam and heat from the ironing the garments the safety switch wiring is corroding badly and some of the switches are sticking either in the ON or OFF position or the wire has broken off of the switch terminal and what also makes this difficult is that this three different parts of this machine in sections that are tied together as one machine to process various sizes of table cloths and various sizes of sheets

We have ordered the switch cable harnesses and some of the switches that need to be replaced but we have to have a Saturday that production is not working so we can rehab this machine so we do not keep getting this safety “E” error message again

What I am going to do when we rewire the safety switch circuits I going to mark the cables to where they are located on the machine so we can determine which circuit is having the issue so it will be easier to troubleshoot the issues faster than what we are doing now

Well things did turn out very well with the purchase of this label maker it powers on and recognize the cartridge but the motor does not turn and the display has a motor stalled error message about it but if you activate the cartridge switch with out the cartridge in it with the backlight on and hit print button the display dims a couple of times and then the message pop up my thing is that the motor has some kind of issue I have another that I stole the transistor from it to fix the backlight that did not work because of the bad soldering joints on the part that got lost this label maker is one of the ones that the controller or the display is bad but the motor runs when you install a cartridge in it

One note the eBay seller refund the hole amount of the purchase including the shipping cost and I do not have to ship it back to the seller very nice they will get a very good review from me

Well everything went well transplanting the motor plate with print head on except for one minor issue with the printer head and the tape cutter one the printer head dose not work very well on the 1/4” heat shrink tubing it does not print the very top of the tape but it works great for the 3/4”” tape so this unit will have the 3/4” heat shrink tubing but the other issue is that it does not cut the 1/4” tape either but it cuts the 3/4” tape perfectly so I not complaining about it because it was free

One note you can not remove the motor with out distorting the plastic holder that has hot glue holding it in place so that was out of the question doing it that way

Now the mission is to find one more of them that is used and work if dose not come with a battery pack not a real big deal but it does need to function properly for using heat shrink tubing with it and the backlight needs to work so you can easily read the screen But the price needs to good for what is offered

One note I also found 1” heat shrink tubing for this label machine but I am not buying another label machine for this size because I probably will not use it very often with this size plus I will probably only a couple of cartridges for this size because this size is a lot more expensive than the 3/4” size is wow I was not prepared for how much this size cartridge cost

Not really because I know some of the issues with these label makers and this is the main reason I refuse to buy any of them new and that I bought several of for that reason

Anotther reason for me buying them is that it so much easier to mark individual wires in a device and this saves a lot of time and time is money

Yes I know this is an old post however I have an issue with one of the li-ion battery packs it self discharging while the other three battery packs hold its charge for a very long time and I have not used it very much since I bought them but all of the battery packs are used and I do not know the history of them so I open the one that is self discharging and I am not surprised that it has a Chinese made battery cells

I just bought 4 Panasonic 18500 battery cells from a EBay seller they are not cheap either $24.00 ( for two batteries plus $5.00
( for each set of batteries ) but I am sure that it has to with the size of them and the fact that they are a special size and not very common size

Sure you find cheaper Chinese made 18500 but there quality is crap and the amp hour are exaggerated big time or they are low current rated and because this has a heater element for transferring the printer medium this is the only reason I wanted Japan made battery cells for this particular device

Because when you have the backlight on and you go to print the battery gauge shows 4 bars and when you press print it drops down one bar but if print another right away then it drops down another bar again so I know that battery pack is weak as well so I need to rebuild two battery packs now and probably do other two next month

Yea I could use 6 AA batteries but if I use li-ion 1.5 volt rechargeable battery I really would pay up my a** for that so I prefer to bite the big cost of two battery cells instead of six of them and I would have to take them out of labeler to charge them no thanks

did you isolate the old cells from any protection pcb first to make sure it wasnt the board?
i have a couple of almost new karcher tool batteries here that self discharge real quick and it's the damned balance-boards doing it!

I have had to use these heat shrink label machines twice in last two weeks because of machine failure that I need to replace electrical components that have many wires that are all the same color

Yes I checked the individual battery cells one was around 3.7something volts the other one was around 3.8something volt
the label maker was showing no bars on the battery fuel gauge and was surprised that it even powered up

When I get the new battery cells in and test the new battery cells and match as close as possible I will know if the BMS board is working properly or not

I have seen BMS boards do this as well but I also do not know the history of these battery packs and when I got them they were extremely low on charge on a couple of the battery packs and I suspect that this is one of that is self discharging

But thank you for reminding me of this issue but I usually check BMS boards when I have battery voltages that are not very close each other

I only know of one way to check a BMS board that might be slowly discharging the battery cells and that is to put a current meter that has micro amp range and unfortunately unless my Fluke meter can get this low of current the only other thing I can do is leave my battery testing machine in monitoring mode for several days and see if the voltage is slowly going down but unfortunately I do not have my battery testing machine setup for testing BMS boards yet I have not had time to make the necessary jigs for doing this type of testing yet but I hope to get started on this very soon because I really need a way to test BMS board without distorting my battery testing machines

Can you get replacement boards for these power tools

If the BMS board has issues I will have to buy another used battery pack to get another BMS board because the label maker has the charging function on it and I want it to work properly and not take a charge that the board I would use is not capable because I have quite a few 8.4 volt BMS boards but what is in there does not look like the one that I have

But if I have to go down this rabbit hole I going to use the battery pack enclosure for an external battery pack and use one of these BMS boards that I have but will not use the charger that is made for the label maker because it is the slowest charger that I have ever seen it takes several hours to go from one bar to the next bar on the battery fuel gauge on label maker

replacement boards for karcher - no.
maybe more popular stuff but not those.
you can fault-find it like anything else though.

I just do not have the time or patience on extremely small circuit boards like this one it just simpler to buy another used one for $20.00 and I can repurpose the battery pack enclosure for an external battery pack for the label maker I just have drill a small hole for the battery pack wires or use RC car connector for the connections

I could also use the battery pack for my blue ESR meter that wants have a nice lunch on my 9 volt battery especially if I use it consistently for a while

Here is what I am referring to below

                            https://www.ebay.com/itm/26516112865...Bk9SR7zGwsSPZQ

In fact the rechargeable 9 volt li-ion battery pack is also going bad and they are not cheap either these are pouch battery cells that I am not very fond of in the first place the charger is very good charging them but the quality of these battery cells are not very good over a period of time for the amount of money you pay for them

The new finally arrived today in the mail so it is time to modify the 18650 battery holders to accommodate the 18500 battery cells so I can test them and see how good they are

and i found the fault on the karcher batteries - shit design!
there is a (shorted) 3.3v regulator with a burned series resistor on the input.
not surprising as the feed is 18v (5x 4.2 is obviously higher than that) so 21v down to 3.3v is an 18v voltdrop on the regulator!!

Well the replacement battery cells came in the mail yesterday and since I took the day off I put them on the SkyRc M3000 battery tester and I am going to cycle them twice and see what the results are

Unfortunately these battery cells at made in China hopefully they are good quality battery cells because I paid enough for them they are supposed to Panasonic brand battery cells I sure hope so

panasonic probably has a chinese factory.

they have a law in china, any product sold with a lithium battery in it must have chinese sourced batteries.
thats why when samsung had the exploding phone issue it never happened in china,
the samsung products in china had different batteries from the rest of the world.

If this is the case then this is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever heard of this one more reason not to like using Chinese made battery cells in the first place

You can sometimes tell the difference in quality between Japanese made battery cells and Chinese made and sometimes Korean made battery quality is sometimes hit and miss type thing Taiwan made battery cells are decent most of the time Canada made battery cells are hit and miss type thing as well meaning that they last for several years and degrade very fast it seems to me

In the Milwaukee M12 battery packs they use Canada made battery cells and after several years of heavy use the charger starts to not want to charge the battery cells up fully because of out of balance battery cells

I am not sure if you can get Japan made battery cells in this size and the other listing for this model number does indicate what country they are made

But I can tell you that the Boston battery cells are made in Japan and some are made in China and one from China can not take the abuse like the Japan made battery cells can—-> I had an issue with my battery testing machine when I was testing some of them from China and the battery machine ran the battery cells down to a very low voltage so I slowly changed them to around 3.75 volts and readjust the current to one amp and about 10 minutes later the pressure sensor tripped in the battery cell and there was no more voltage or current coming out of this battery again

Unfortunately the battery cells that I bought are not good they only have 50% life left in them I going to return them for a refund yeah I will loose the the shipping cost both ways oh well you win some and you lose some

All though I did find another place that sells them cheaper but who knows how good these are

The original battery pack has one very bad cell it is lucky if it has 50 milliamperes hous the other battery cell is also bad but not as bad it might make one amp hour if I am luckily

I have one more battery pack that is acting up as well but until I have another battery pack working I do not want to take this apart right now

Why is it so hard to find Japan made battery cells in this size I can find plenty of Chinese made battery cells and I know from previous experience that they inflate the milliamperes hours by at least 50% or more and still pay a premium price for them as well or they are battery cells that were made 3 to 5 years ago and have degraded by at least half or more and the price is more than it should be

Now I getting really piss off with this that I might just make a 21700 battery pack with a long power cord and be done with it if I can find a decent battery holder for two battery cells and mount the BMS protection board on it and be done with it

Update the eBay seller refund the hole amount and took down his listing for these battery cells and I do not have to return them I am not sure if I am going to use them or not ( in fact the eBay seller called me on the phone after I had put the results that I got on these battery cells )

What I going to do is test them on the EBC-A10H battery testing machine to get a better idea what the charging / discharging curves really look like and then decide if I am going to use them or not
