Re: New Cheap Chinese Soldering Plates
They aren't new, they've in the shopjimmy led rework station and are also used on their own for replacing LEDs.

Re: New Cheap Chinese Soldering Plates
Aside from the plate size (75x75mm vs. 120x75mm) and price (1st vs. 2nd & 3th) I'm not sure if the heating element isn't the same... because they state the same constant power consumption at the same temperature setting.
Of course in either 3 options you'll get twice the time to get the settling 260ÂșC temperature, and possibly some temperature fluctuations because these were designed to operate on 240V, not 120V.
Overall, it doesn't really justify DIY... go for it.Leave a comment:

Re: New Cheap Chinese Soldering Plates
I like the first one and really like the last one for sure thank you for sharing the links
When you do get the micro controller program written can you please post the files because I would really like to get them working to be able to repair led strip and things like thatLast edited by sam_sam_sam; 10-29-2021, 12:39 PM.Leave a comment:

New Cheap Chinese Soldering Plates
I was browsing on ali, and I'm seeing a bunch of these super cheap soldering hot plates. I was going to make one, but it's really hard to justify DIY when you can buy a plate for under $10.
Most look pretty functional, one looks like it needs to have the plate flipped, and they could all stand to be countersunk and swap the screws for flat head ones. Would be nearly trivial to install an arduino, thermocouple and ssd for fine control.

by AzurainHi everyone,
I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.
Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times... -
Hello everyone, next I have the following problem with the Sumsour 8586D 110v dual station I bought it a year ago and it worked wonderfully, now it presents the H-E error on the soldering iron side, the hot air side works correctly..... I disassembled the soldering iron head because the manual tells me that this error is due to ceramic resistance problems, in effect, I measured it and it is open, I bought a new one that is working verified in a soldering iron and nothing.... The same error continues, I proceeded to open the station and check visually, I found a totally damaged 1R00 surface mount...

by bleroHello,
I'd like to try to repair these corncob shaped chinese bulbs with tens of Leds on them.
I know they're bad quality and fail fast, because of the Leds or the capacitor(s).
So I plan to try to replace the main capacitor 15uF-400V with a good quality one.
I've used in the past some capacitors of this eBay vendor which is well known on this site: egekecu. I'm still daily using a monitor I repaired with his products.
I know it has been said he sells good and real brands but outdated capacitors. He's actually 3 times cheaper than RS-Online... -
by Peter_1402Hi Everyone,
I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
1. Soldering iron works great
2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
From the above test, I can conclude... -
by acedogblastThis is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.
There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as... - Loading...
