    Model 87 Funny Noises

Anyone ever had an 87 start sounding like a geiger counter? When you short the leads on ohms, it changes to a tick-tick-ticking.I tried removing the battery but no luck. It seems to be working other than the beeping, but I don't trust it. ALSO... When i turn the speaker on using ohms, it again slows to the tick-tick-tick.
    Thanks in advance

    1) There is a section called "Test Equipment Usage, Techniques, and Reviews" where your post is better suited.

    2) Is this a Fluke 87 that you are talking about?

    3) Have you tried a fresh new 9V battery?

    4) Post clear focused pictures of the front and back pcb (with shield removed), buzzer, etc

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Sounds like the lead alarm going off. Are the leads in the correct jacks? Black to COM, Red to V-Ohm-Diode. If that's OK then look for foreign matter or damage in the mA or A jacks.

        Epson EB-U42 projector / Caps with 0.7 ohms ?!
        by narf
        hi all,

first of all: i'm a (motivated) newbie, so please forgive me any stupid question i may or may not ask

i'm currently repairing a projector: Epson EB-U42 that doesn't start (no lights, nothing).

        what i've found so far:
        - the PSU does its job and supplies 12V to the mainboard via the connector.
        - shortly thereafter, there is a mosfet (TS420-600B) where i can test 12V on the one side (in the data sheet this side is called Anode), Gate 0V, Kathode shorted to ground
        - not far away, there's the first cap with a resistance of 0.7 ohms....

Need help to identify and to locate a 0.33 ohms fusible resistor for power supply
        by gica69
I have a quad charger that is split into 4 separate sections and one section doesn’t charge anymore. I have located what I think is a thermistor and on the shrink tube it says 125 degrees C. I cut the shrink tube and it's a 33 ohms resistor. It measures a little less than 1/2 inch in length. I am including pictures of it. Please help me identify it. So, it should test at 0.4ohms and probably go up in resistance with the rise in temp. On the board it clearly says R for resistor. But it has to be a special one.
Resistor shows orange range silver gold and green lines.
        Thanks in adv...

        by dbuergi
        Hi all,

i fixed a A1708 which was not working. Not its booting but the left speaker is making buzzing and sizzling noises. I added a short video to show it.

I already reflowed the audio codec chips but that didn't help. Any ideas what to do?
