    Lg 42pj350

Hello everyone, today I have this 42" Lg Plasma Tv that came in originally with "clicking fault" turns out the Ysus has shorted igbts. I replaced all the devices that shown as shorted on my meter, removed them, mounted new ones on heatsinks with silicon paste and resoldered them to the board. At the same time I also checked the buffer card and Zsus they check fine nothing obviously shorted, normally on lg sets the Ysus never seems to kill the buffer from my experience ? However plugging the set in it fires on, panel primes and discharges but there is a white band at the bottom of the set then after a few seconds it shutdown. If I unplug the bottom half of the screen the white band moves to the top of the set and it still shuts down however if I unplug all the connectors going from the Y buffer going to the PDP all together it doesn't shut down at all. All the voltages are correct and im sure that its not the control board either. If anyone has any ideas let me know thank you.

Right more messing found that the VSC is pulsing up and down and that the buffer chips are getting very hot so guessing that the buffer is toast and that possibly Ysus so going to double check.

            Re: Lg 42pj350

Ok so fixed the set today, was due to cold solder joint on the Zsus on that coil, there was a huge ring crack around the leg of it, used my meter to see if it was connected to the pad at all and it wasn't at all. After re-soldering that by adding fresh solder removing the fresh solder with the de-soldering gun I then scratched around the pad to expose the copper and spun some solid copper wire around the leg of the coil then flooded it with solder to help reinforce the joint. Lg should have riveted that coil in the first place as it has a lot of current flowing through it. I also reinforced the joint on the same coil on the Ysus just to make sure its not going fail in the future. I have a feeling that the reason why the Y sustain Igbts and diodes failed was due to the Zsus coil breaking off which caused them to get overloaded and go short.
Overall £30 in parts and now a decent tv charged £120 for repair and now a happy customer hopefully wont be failing any time soon. Cheap Lg junk built to fail now at least its working until something els fails. Thanks for the input really helped.

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
                  by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
                  All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

                  Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

                  I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                  Panasonic TC-P50S1 shorted TXNSC1EDUU (TNPA4782AB) SC Board
                  by Yanleb
Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

                  D608, good
                  D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                  D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
                  D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)

                  IC464 Inverter HA MC74HC1G14, shorted...

                  by modtool
                  Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...
