Got this Samsung un60eh6000fxzc 60" LED TV in for repair. It has STBY voltage. When I turn it on, I hear the little Samsung sound, the backlights come on but no OSD or anything else on the screen, just black.

Story goes there was some lightning or brownout. Anyway, the PSU works fine. So I am down over the mainboard BN97- 06546A on the Samsung IC as it is getting hot. The same IC also does the LVDS. Haven't had the chance to run my oscilloscope on the LVDS yet to check if there is any signal coming out or not. The T-Con board is tucked away underneath more plastic. I can't access it through the service panel on the back. Bummer.

When lighting hit, it usually damages the HDMI port that is hooked up to the cable or Sat box.

When you say the IC does the LVDS, do you mean on the one on the T-con? If so I would worry that the panel drivers have been damaged. Unfortunately I don't think there will be an easy way to test. Must have been a really high energy strike to make it through two chains of ICs.

I have no idea what was hooked up to what port. Could be the RF port or the HDMI port, he didn't know. However, seeing what things look like, it was the HDMI port.

If you zoom into that picture and look at the big Samsung IC. The HDMI ports go into there and the video comes out of there on the other side and going to the T-Con.
I am pretty sure that IC is toasted, as it gets pretty warm, that I almost burnt my skin. I also see sweet diddly squat on my oscilloscope hooked up to the LVDS while flicking the menu on and off.
All I could test of now on the T-Con board was the fuse and it is good. For the rest I need to disassemble the frame to get the T-Con board out and that requires my living room table. So I guess for now I need at least a main board to start with. Grr.

O.k. got another main board. Got signal coming out of it as I can see it on the scope, but the screen is still black. Backlights come on and I hear the Samsung melody.I guess I have to rip out the T-Con board now.

Edit:
unplugged each side seperatly while the other plugged in and screen stays still black.

Got in a replacement T-Con (thanks to Shopjimmy) TV works fine as kind!
