    Samsung 32" ln32b360c5d

Picked this up from Freecycle. Owner stated that it wouldn't turn on.

She was /kinda/ right. It comes up, the Samsung chime plays, you get a perfect picture for a second...then it shuts off. It repeats this three times.

I haven't had the opportunity to hook up a video source to it (the picture to which I referred was the on-screen menu) but I'm betting that it's continuing to operate. I found instances of people on the 'net who have had the same issue, but no mention of the fix.

None of the caps on the power supply are bulging (though I'm sure I'll replace them, anyway).

    Photos, forthcoming.

Here are the photos. I had to take two photos of each side of the power supply, since it's so large.

I hadn't taken off the logic board before now, and I'm noting what appears to be something that spilled on it. I could be wrong.

are you saying that when the screen is blank your thinking the menu screen is still working? but cant be seen because the backlight is out?

        Exactly.

And, when you power it off, it makes the Samsung power off chime, also.

If I remember this chassis, some one in this forum found shorted diode in the power supply/inverter board, you may want to check those black diode with the silver band, set the meter to Ohm mode 200 Ohm range.
I will search the forum to see find that thread.
What is the P/N of this power supply/Inverter board? BN-XXXXXX, tom66 may have the diagram for it.

OK. we should check the High voltage winding resistance of the transformers next.
We need to find the pin out of the inverter transformers.

                          I think I missed a diode from before - ZDI802.

In circuit, the diode has a junction drop of .095, both ways. I had to get out my Fluke to double check, but it seems to be reading as shorted.

                          So...now to source a replacement.

edit: anyone have the schematic so I can get a part number?

It's reading fine out of circuit. I think I was getting a false bad reading from RI812 and RI813.

It's on the schematic, but QGAH02110 instead, should be essentially the same part if the board is the same.

Also have 289B, if that helps.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but don't seem to be getting a reading out of any of the windings.

Which can't be, since it comes up, briefly, when you turn it on, right?

Multimeter. Set to "2000" Ohms. Tried quite a few different pin combinations, didn't get any readings. So, I'm doing it wrong.
