Lost chip resistor, need help with value

Hey, all! Noob here, with a weird request...

I was recapping a TDK XAD819AR power supply out of a Hanns-G HC194D LCD monitor when I managed to knock loose and lose a little chip resistor in the middle of the back of the board -- looks like resistor R18. I figure I should be able to hack in a small 1/8W resistor in place of the chippy if I knew roughly what value it was, but I haven't been able to track down a service manual or schematic for that board, and haven't even been able to find an app note for the little SMD-8 SC6841SZ MOSFET driver that the chippy was next to.

Does anyone happen to have a schematic for that board, or maybe one of those boards out on the bench so you could check to see the value of the chip resistor? I'd let you have my firstborn male child, but he's a pretty obnoxious teenager, so you'll have to settle for my eternal gratitude.

Re: Lost chip resistor, need help with value

    I have this board.
    XAD819AR
    EA02819x

R18 says "10R0" on it if that means anything to you.

Now if you could help me out, I don't know which capacitors to get for this board, I took them all out when I tried to repair it and failed. Would you be able to tell me what caps it has?

All I got was a white screen after I changed the caps.

      10 ohms...cool -- that'll be easy :-)

      Value-wise, my board had:

      2 - 10V 1000uF
      2 - 25V 470uF
      2 - 25V 220uF
      2 - 25V 100uF
      1 - 10V 100uF
      1 - 50V 47uF
      1 - 50V 4.7uF

A lot of the CapXon-branded capacitors were bulging, but just to be on the safe side I changed out all of the little electrolytics, CapXon or no.

There was also a big ol' 100uF 400V filter cap over near where the line voltage came in...that guy looked OK, so I didn't mess with it.

Can you give me also the locations? Also, what are the locations and values on the logic board. Series is also important if you don't mind

          I know it's asking a lot.

Yea, the 400v 100uF Taicon is still there. I am gonna change it too when I get working on it again, because I haven't had good luck with Taicon primaries. Has been sitting here for months.

Here's the power supply...assuming it uploads OK. Might not get the logic board posted until tomorrow...getting to be beddy-bye time. Not sure what you mean by "series".

By series, I mean, on the capacitors, it should say something like "KF" or "GF" or something like that.

You've got good eyes. Yes, those are the correct values.

Other than the Taicon, all the capacitors I have in there now are Panasonic FM series. If you need to know the manufacturer & series of the originals, let me know -- I probably haven't emptied that trash can yet.

Re: Lost chip resistor, need help with value

Thank you very much, the picture is a lot clearer.

Our logic boards are very similar, the physical dimensions, connector positions, etc... But they are slightly different.

                      Yours is:
                      DAL9ZCMB124 Revision B
                      Mine is:
                      DAL9TAMB1A1

Unfortunately the cap layout is different on mine. I'll see if I can get one like yours somewhere, maybe it will also solve my problem.

Let us know how the recap goes.

Re: Lost chip resistor, need help with value

The recap went fine...the 10ohm resistor I hacked in was one of my uglier pieces of rework, but it's getting the job done. The monitor is back in service, and now working perfectly.

BTW, I checked the trash, and the majority of the original caps on the power supply (including all of the bulging ones) were CapXon GF series. A couple (the 47uf and the 4.7uf) were TL CD81 series.

                        Thanks for all your help!

                          No, thank you!

This is very helpful. I will check GF spec to see if FM is an exact replacement. But hey, it's working, so the proof is in the pudding.

This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Lenovo T490 - motherboard serial - windows licence lost - after corrupt bios chip replacement
                            by baletak
                            Hi,
had T490 with faulty bios chip. Bought chip out of ebay and soldered on. Laptop starts and works however serial numbers of laptop and motherboard do not match.
I have updated laptop model number.

                            1) I did not find the way to update laptop serial number - I have this one.
                            2) I dont know where to get my motherboard serial number and how to update it. Is it somewhere physically on the mainboard? How do I update it?

Hope to find someone to help me with this as I am hitting dead end at the moment.

                            Many thanks

Thanks for any help. The board version is DAZAARMB6E0 REV: E. The bios chip is winbond 25Q64JVSIQ1736. W25Q64JV is not available in AsProgrammer -- only BV CV FV or FW_1.8c. The chip won't interface with asProgrammer and a CH341A. When I have this chip on the board, the laptop will not post but when I plug it in to power, the blue LED lights up, also the orange when the battery is connected. When I push the power on button, keyboard backlight turns on and the fan starts briefely then turns off. But I can't do anything to program this bios chip so I bought another one.
