I find it interesting, and somewhat scary, that the HN M series is failing in both the Apple G5's and the OEM Intel Boards (either Foxconn or Asus, not sure). Any thoughts on trends or has anyone found any other cases of the HN M series taking a crap? Counterfeits? Remarking? Incorrect chemical forumla?

nope
read down to : There were an enormous number of electrolytic capacitors that went boom in Car audio systems. Surprisingly, it was only the capacitors made by Nichicon and almost always the 7mm high capacitors. Pity, nichicon was the low bidder on almost everything, and they were the only supplier in the world of 7mm high axial electrolytics.

this problem has existed longer than anyone wants to admit.
just recapped a asus p4b with these caps blown up.
this board is what 2-3 years old?
btw this is the second time i have had this board for service.
first time just the 16v caps at the vrm input were leaking.
3 months later ALL nichicon caps are vented/leaking.
