    Vizio E390VL no 12V

    Good afternoon!
I present to you today's patient. An older Vizio E390VL my neighbor gave me since it was dead.

    Symptoms:
    1. Plug in. No standy lights or Vizio lights up.
    2. I have 5.2V on the 5.2V line between PSU and main. (5.18V Pins 1-3)
    3. I do NOT have 12V on 12V line between PSU and main. (0.00V Pins 8-10)
    4. 0.00V on Pins 11-14
    5. When jumpering Pin (5.2V stby to Pin 12) 12V lines still show 0.00V
    6. Pressing Power button does not change the voltages and doesn't seem to turn on.

Since Main board is receiving the 5.2V and not returning any other voltages i assume the Main board is dead. Thoughts? Next test?
    Pics attached.

    Cheers and beers!

You should put down the pin number and follow by the pin name for each pin to make it easier for us the see what is going on.

    1) Pin 12 is BL-ON pin not PS-ON pin.
    2) Pin 11 Remote on/off is the PS-ON pin
    3) To force on the power supply board, you MUST remove the connector that goes to the main board first otherwise you will damage the main board when you directly connect power supply pin to the control pin without using the resistor.
    4) ALWAYS use the resistor, 1K is typical, to do the force on incase you make the wrong connection.

There you go, do pin 11 and 5v stby with the resistor, see if those volts come back, I know it's the same thing that bud just said but so many people lately have just been skipping on to other things without doing these tests.

        Re: Vizio E390VL no 12V

Ok here we go. Brain cramp on the 5V to BL/ON. Long day Already.
Jumpering Pin 1 to Pin 11 (5V stby to Power On) I get the proper 12V lines.
Next up, jumper pin 2 to Pin 12 (5V stby to BL/ON) backlights come on.

        Bad main board, right?
Been a few months since I last fixed a tv and now have like 16 to do. :S

        Cheers and Beers

          Status pin is 0 V?
There is EEPROM, see if the problem matches the bad EEPROM PROBLEM.

Correct. Pins 11-14 have 0V until I jumper the power on to standby. Will look at eeprom issue

EEPROM is ordered. Will update after I receive and install it.

After reviewing my own notes, I made some changes to clarify and corrected a couple of errors on steps 8 and 9.

                              The revision is attached.

                              Good Luck.
