Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100 power off itself

    Hi guys.
I got tv set Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 that powering off itself. This is random shut down. Sometimes it works long sometimes 3-5 minutes. I entered to service menu and found that T-Con board has 15 errors and backit 3 errors. After reset errors tv was working some time and then shut off. Then I checked error log again and t-con board failed. Like month ago it shut off only backlit and after that it was difficult to turn it on so I reset it by remove main plug for half an hour.
In this case looks like t-con board does not working properly. Is this common issue of this model? I found some reviews that this series have faulty LCD's too so my question is : is the t-con biard bad or LCD panel failed?
Please advice and also where is a good place to buy working t-con board if so.
    Thanks for any help.
    Gabe

Did you already try re-seating the LVDS cable on the T-CON side and on the main board side?

Solved. Cleaning and reseating LVDS cables did not change anything. Replaced t-con board solved problem. Tv works as new. Thanks everyone for help.

Having the exact same problem, is there anyway to diagnose the tcon?

Read the op it says something about going into service menu and there it tells you it is bad it has ability to self test tcon.... Need to figure out how to get to service menu.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100 power off itself

Cannot get TV on for more than couple seconds, 2 seconds of which there is back light with blank screen.

I tried disconnecting the LVDS cable at TCON while screen was blank as suggested somewhere else with no disturbance in blank image. Is this indication of bad panel?

Also, if I disconnect the two connectors to the inverter and LVDS and power on, I get the same thing, no back light blank screen of course. Could the power supply be defective as well as the panel?

Need good clear sraight on pictures of back of tv with cover off and each board.

Need voltages from connector that goes from power supply board to main board. Will need pin#-pin label-Pin voltage in standby-Pin voltage when pushing power button and picture of connector on power supply board.
                  Format:
Pin# - Pin Label - Pin Voltage standby - Pin voltage power on
                  1 - XXXXXXX - XXv - XXXv
                  2 - XXXXXXX - XXXv - XXXv
                  3 - XXXXXXX - XXXv - XXXv
                  4 - etc.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Is tv actually shutting down or are the backlights turning off. Your voltages suggest that tv is on. Backlights may just be shutting off. See any image on screen with flashlight?

I get back light for a few seconds. Hear relay click and turns off then on again. Any attempt to unplug the t-con does not result in disturbance of image. However with the t-con and inverter disconnected the TV still power cycles. It definitely turns off and then on again

On second inspection I noticed this raised cap on main, apologies as I'm having trouble with my upload software

Can I substitute leaded? Correction it is not power cycling just turns off once back light shows for 2 seconds.

I would replace caps first and go from there if it doesn't fix problem. Regular 220uf 25v will work
