Sanyo FW65D25T won't turn on, broken pwr button

    Ok,

Sorry for the multiple posts. I'm a noob and didn't read the sticky to this thread. And post the make and model in title.

I have a another post in this thread already. link it here and maybe someone can delete it? Start with this one instead?

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65959

My post from the other thread.
    Hello all,

I have a sanyo fw65d25t that I picked up from someone who knows how a screw driver works. He said the picture just would take longer and longer to come on and then one day it stopped. Well he tried to look at and managed to get the back cover off and wreck the power switch button.

So the indicator light comes on when its plugged in, I can't get it to turn on with a universal remote. He did say the back-light still worked just no picture. I'm wondering if their is a way to solder some jumper wires some place to turn it on with a switch?

Or do I have another issue? I did check all the caps and voltage regs. The voltage reg on the FRC board that is 1117a does not have conductivity to ground at all on any of the 3 pins? Nor does the top tab/pin.

    Then followed up with this.
Ok so in picture 1 is the IR&LED CON10 and the Key CN6. The pin voltages are as follows.

    *CN10 goes to IR&LED board

Can we get the pictures that show the WHOLE backside of the TV?
    'PWON - 4.8V'
So far you do have PWON (PS-ON) signal to turn on the rest of the power supplies but I cannot see other command signals to turn on the backlights and backlights dimming.
So at this point, you do have backlights, correct?
Do you have 12VDC on both ends of the SMD fuse on that FRC/T-CON board?

I will get you some pics of the back side.

I will also check for pwr on both sides of that fuse. I only have stand by right now. I can't get the TV to pwr on as the pwr button assembly is broken and I can't get the universal remote programmed to turn tv on. So I don't know how to cycle it to see if things are working.

Is there anything else I should check also?

"PWON - 4.8V" Right now your TV is stuck in the POWER ON mode and you are getting the switched power supplies outputs.
So basically you should have backlights right now if the command signals for backlights are present.

I don't have back-lights on or anything. Indicator light is still on. I can't get the light to go out no matter what I do with universal remote. (supposed to turn TV on to program remote. I have entered every code for TV and tried to turn TV on with no luck.

On the board with the video inputs Main board? The few fuses I seen tested good 5.2v on both ends or 12v on both ends. The Fuse on the FRC board or in pic 1 the triangle board. Has a fuse but no power either end. Also the 3 little red wires on the LVCS input connector have no voltage? I thought maybe they should since they are red?

            Here are some more pics.

Also the fuses I highlighted in the pic are the ones I found and have same voltage on each end.

I can't power the TV on I can only plug into the wall and the stand by led comes on. So when I do that I get 55v at CED2

                        I skipped over it.

Have you tested in ohms to make sure that you have continuity through the switch and from the connector through the switch and back out to the connector? I can't see if any traces are broken, or if you have good solder joints.

Does the light change on the front of the TV to show that it recognizes you hitting power?

If not: does the power rail change voltage to show that it recognizes your button press?

The power rail is probably 3-5, maybe 12 volts to the board/switch.

Then another power rail to the supply/inverter that will probably be at 0V, after button press 3-5V steady.
Disclaimer: Don't trust a thing I say-I am frequently wrong!!!

I have tons of spare parts, some used, some N.O.S. ham transistors and caps. Message me if you need any parts.

Some of the things I've fixed:
60" Vizio-bad LED's. iBook G4: Resoldered VCC Plug. Geo Tracker ECU: Swollen / Leaking capacitors. Windows Laptop: Soldered broken LVDS wires. Dryer: Burned contact on temp switch. Oven in R.V.: Bad contacts in relays-Exploded by the looks of them! Samsung Oven: Burned contacts on Relays. MSI Motherboard: BSOD-Swollen capacitors, bad graphics card, Moved SATA Input from SATA 1 to SATA 2 plug

The actual button circuit board is junk, the connector got ripped off the board and a few of the solder pads are gone too.

The stand by light never changes with any button presses when trying to program a universal remote. The universal remote says you are supposed to turn TV on first then press off to see if the code works. Maybe I should order the OEM remote for the TV and see if that changes anything?

As I indicate, the main board is stuck in the ON condition right now other wise you will not have those Voltage you reported.
The 55V boosted Voltage seems low to me for the LEDs to be on, we need to look up the spec sheet of the LCD panel, there is sticker on the back of the LCD panel, what are the numbers.
We need to get the backlights to work first so we can see if there is any image on the screen or not.

You will have to fix at least two problem: #1 is the backlights, #2 is the power on/off control.

So the tv is stuck in the on position while the stand by light is still on?

Also when I plug the tv in I hear a small buzzing noise coming from the power supply board. This buzz goes away when I unplug the connector that feeds the main board and comes right back when I plug back in. I'm guessing the buzz noise is coming from a voltage reg or something to do with main board maybe being stuck in on mode? Or this is totally normal.

I also I haven't had luck finding a new button assembly to fix that or will I not need to once we get the backlights on?

I did not find the spec sheet but I found some info from shopjimmy about the EEPROM:
                                Symptoms EEPROM replacement MAY fix:
                                - On screen display is stuck on logo screen
                                - TV won’t power on with remote or buttons (LED indicator remains same color)
                                - TV won’t turn on after being off for 30+ minutes
                                - TV shuts off by itself during channel scan or when switching inputs
                                - TV turns on and is stuck in color test pattern mode forever
                                - TV turns on but there is no backlight (LED indicator shows TV is on but there is no image)

                                  - On screen display is stuck on logo screen
                                  - TV won't power on with remote or buttons (LED indicator remains same color)

                                  - TV turns on but there is no backlight (LED indicator shows TV is on but there is no image)

Alright I'll order one of those eeprom chips and see what that does and post back in a few days.

Alright, I replaced the eeprom chip and now the TV will turn on but takes a good 2 seconds for it to come on. This is the picture I get now from it.
