    Vestel Main Board 17MB22-2

Can anyone with this board confirm the capacitor connection highlighted in the attached pic.

The board I'm working on has lost the cap so I need to know the polarity of the connections for replacement.

From the pic I would say the cap(+) goes to board(-), but I need to be certain.

There should be WHITE BAR on the footprint where this cap is solder on too, that will be the negative lead of the cap, if you look at other caps (polarized cap), you will see the white bar indicating the Negative lead of the cap. A closed up pictures will help also.

Thanks, but that's not the problem. This cap was a later (manual) addition to some of these boards. The markings are obvious on the board - within the circular cap footprint the (+) is at the bottom but with no connection. The 'added' cap is connected to the board(-) but I'm not sure if it's the cap(+) or cap(-) that goes to the board(-)

I can see a piece of wire attached to one of the cap's leg (positive leg of the cap or negative leg of the cap?), is the wire just hanging there without connecting to anything at the other end of the wire? It is hard to see without closed up pictures.

          Re: Vestel Main Board 17MB22-2

The board in the pic is not the board I'm working on - I borrowed the pic from another thread. It's purely to illustrate where it is.

My board has the flying lead connected on the back but no cap attached.

When the cap is connected to the board one cap leg (-/+?) is soldered to the flying lead/rear of board. The other cap leg (-/+?) is connected to the board(-)

I simply need to know which cap leg connects to the thro' hole which is highlighted in the pic. So if someone is working on the same board please help me out.

I think I've got a Goodmans with the same board... now to figure out how to get it open :/

That'll be the one from a few months ago...? I remember it well

Before you open the bugger try and remember if it had the 'add-on' cap - some do, some don't. May save you opening it up for nothing.

And I'm glad someone understands what I'm after...

No I don't think mine had the add on cap.

Of all things I'm just in need of screws for that TV... it works perfectly now after replacing the PSU.

Hi - dont know if it helps but the schematic shows this cap.
Couldnt upload it but added excerpts. The actual wiring one show the cap as
half white half black and the other black half ( Yes I know thats 3 halves
you will see what I mean in the pic) Which is probably significant but I dont
know enough about schematics to know what it means.
