    MSI MS-16P51 No power

    Hello,

    I'm working on a MSI MS-16P51 board, that does not power up. The charging led lights up, but system doesn't power up.
    There is no 3.3v on powerbutton, and no 3.3v on bios chip or coil.
    5v is also not present.

    I suspect TPS51225, but what is the best way to test this ?

    thanks a lot.

    +5V line what is the value resistance to GND ? If it’s low remove the coils and test which side is short

      if I measure on the coil, the resistance starts from around 5k Omhs and slowly goes up to around 11k Ohms

        The powerbutton now has 3.3v, when I push the powerbutton 3.3v and 5v are present for +/- 5 seconds, than turn off. I get no voltage on ram-coil PL12

          In your case +3/5V SUS TPS generate this voltage after pressing power button
          +3/5 ALWS is VREG 3/5 for the moment this line is fine , test on EC RSMRST#
          PM_PWRBTN# voltage are present as you press the power button

            Both RSMRST# and PM_PWRBTN# are 3.3v when pressing the power button.
            PM_SLP_S5# and PM_SLP_S4# are both 0v

              Ok now test if these voltage are rising up when you press the power button +V1.8VSUS +1.05VSUS , did you flash bios with a working bin?

                Re: MSI MS-16P51 No power

                both lines come up when power button is pressed, 1.05v is a little higher (1.15v).
                After 5 to 6 seconds they die.
                I tried a confirmed bios from this forum, but problem remains.

                  Can you check near PCH if any cap or resistor gets 3VSUS as you press PWRBTWN and test all the pin pic

                    Ok, i tried my best to measure this.
                    I have +3VSUS on c1063 near the PCH when I press the power button.

                    SRTCRST# = 2,75V -> 2,50V when button pressed
                    BB47 R579 = 0V -> 3,3V when button pressed
                    PCH_INTRUDER# = 2,75V -> 2,50V when button pressed
                    BATLOW# = 3,3V
                    AC_PRESENT = 3,3V
                    BE41 R568 = 3,3V
                    EC_RTC_RST = 0V -> 3,3V when button pressed
                    RTC_RST = 2,75V -> 2,50V when button pressed
                    SRTC_RST = 2,75V -> 2,50V when button pressed
                    XTAL24_OUT_JNC = 0V
                    XTAL24_IN_JNC = 0V

                        I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                        Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                        I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                        The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                        With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                        by PantherDave
                        Hi all!

                        I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

                        I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

                        TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

                        I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

                        A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

                        Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
                        I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

                        One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
