    From boardview, PU8100 is the 3V/5V regulator. Could be UP1589Q, confirm with markings.

      And what is the marking on the chip?

      Most likely it is 3/5 V controller. If hot - usually means too much current drawn either from ldo or smps output. Measure resistances on outputs pin 3,8,13,14 - search for low values.

        pin 3= 13.58kohms
        pin8= 2.95kohms
        pin13=2.95kohms
        pin14=14.75 then goes to 0kohms

          Look if KBC is shorted, had this problem before on a pretty similar ASUS board and KBC was dead

            Pin 14 - 5V, if i understand you correctly it is shorted.
            You need to find the short on the board. Methods are described - search.
            Boardview attached, might be helpful.

                          @zarmo,

                          1) power down and remove battery & adapter. Meter in resistance mode (ohms). Black lead to ground. Red lead on every inductor / coil you can locate on the board.

                          Checking for low resistance on each coil. It is ok to have a low resistance on the very low voltages used by the CPU / GPU components.

                          2) Post your values. This may indicate a bad cap - often are tantalum caps with a polarity mark. Such a bad cap derates over time and causes a short circuit event which leads to a high current spike for that voltage rail. The local switching IC will then deem this to be a short circuit and cause the power rail to shut off and usually leads to power cycling as you are observing.

                            Anyone know the value of R3053? Is it a 0 ohm resistor?
                            I have problem, in pin2 i have 3.2V, but in pin1 im not getting 3.2v, its keep changing between 1.6-2.6V up and down (its happen when i just plug the power adapter).
                            When i press power button, it shown 3.2V steady in pin1.

                                      This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

                                      There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

                                      Long story short:
                                      - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
                                      - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
                                      - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
                                      - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
                                      (seems like the story was not that short)

                                      He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

                                      Hi

                                      I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
                                      The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
                                      The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
                                      The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

                                      I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...

                                      Asus Vivobook 15 (board X513ea R2.0) gone dead when user plugged an iPhone cable into the USB-C port during boot. Now there's no LED light, no power at all. I checked all MOSFETs and capacitors, no shorts found. The board only has 3.3V and 5V present, no other voltages.

                                      I injected 3.3V into the EC chip power rail (ITE IT5125VG 128), and it draws 80mA, while the 3.3V LDO chip RT8249C has a max output of 100mA. I checked the boardview and found there are only two chips on this 3.3V rail, EC and Realtek audio chip. So I think EC could be the problem.
