    Panasonic Plasma TC-P50VT25 missing colors

Viewing example picture attached, is there anyone who can suggest where to begin to look?

My experience with Plasma TVs has largely been limited to identifying power issues causing error conditions on several sets in area.

Resetting to factory defaults did nothing to help (dang!) and condition shows when source is DVD or Cable alike.

Oddly, the on-screen menu devices supplied by TV firmware exhibit full color gradations and perfect clarity

Problem occurred when installing a APC voltage regulator, basically, just unplugging set (which was off) and plugging it into regulator.

I noticed that there was NO GROUND - someone had jury rigged an outlet using only an appliance cord to supply it. I did not note the missing ground until after putting regulator inline.

I of course, immediately switched to a grounded outlet, but when set came back on, that's what I got, though just an hour before, the picture was pretty good.

TV was operated without a ground for 3+ years, as far as I can tell. I haven't been able to move huge furniture to access and test for proper polarity yet. It is possible that it was not correct either. Suddenly switching polarity to the correct polarity has been shown to damage power supply caps on some other types of equipment before, though I'd hope the PS on this would be somewhat more robust.

Regrettable as the entire house had been properly wired sometime in the previous 20 years.

I think it's a case of really, really bad luck. I suspect an EEPROM may have corrupted data on it.

There's 2 boards, A board (main board) and the D board . It will be one of those.

Try going into service mode and try the test patterns, it may help to isolate A or D. It did for the last guy with a 54" but he had coloured blocks across the screen at the bottom, that was D board.

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P50VT25 missing colors - Solved?

Yes, really, really bad luck - but I suspected as you did - corrupted data on an EEPROM. I tried to find a complete firmware re-write, but only found some that did specific things - like adjust colors for a particular movie (AVATAR) whic would also change color settings for all modes, undesirable.

Also, since resetting factory defaults did not fix the solution, I didn't want to try the AVATAR settings, given the warning about being stuck with them.

It didn't really make sense that a polarity change (which may well corrupt data) would affect color display from external sources, but not internal.

IT SEEMS - it was corrupted data, or some gates not being properly reset:

Repeated on-off cycles did not 'fix' the problem and even letting the unit sit for hours and proactively trying to completely de-energize all the internal components (cap.s etc.) did not 'fix' it.

BUT - evidently on one such attempt where I decided to let the unit remain on for several hours, as I had tried on a previous attempt the day before., the problem fixed itself.

I am guessing that some gates were left improperly set, possibly by some electrolytic improperly discharging in a sub-section of the power system when correct polarity was initially introduced.

Eventually, some signal was sent and the gates or some other device was able to properly reset.

In any event, thank you for your time. I got really really lucky that the thing returned to normal operation without further efforts.

          Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
          by jm1234
          Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
          by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
          by Alicat
          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Dead Panasonic Viera TX-P65STW50 Plasma TV
          by badcappo
Hello, got a ST50 plasma TV for repair. No signs of life, not even blink codes. Opened it up to check the power supply, type MPF6914. Apparent issues from visual detection and measuring for shorts:
          Diode type G972s6 - D101 with a short
          Mosfet 06N90E - Q301 shorted
          Fuse T5AH 250V - F103 blown
          Diode D301 shorted
          Relay DG1U-17VDC II - RL001 blown

I have not found a circuit diagram. Maybe someone here already dealt with a similar issue? Thanks for tips where else to check 😀...

PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV damaged after a power spike
          by tofik
Hello, I have an PANASONIC TX-P42X10Y Plasma TV, purchased new in 2009.
Unfortunately plasma is not working at all after a power spike. Standby LED is not even working.

I did some quick tests, YSUS + ZSUS MOSFETS and IGBT's are free from shorts, diodes on these modules seems to also be fine, buffer board is free from shorts as well.

Anyway I focused mainly on the PSU, did some voltage tests with the results as below, I attached them on the photo (also please see attached PDF with the SERVICE MANUAL for this model, page number 43).

          I understand...
