    Wintek and ASROCK MotherBoard

I had two Wintek/Winfast not sure which name is right (identical boards) over two years (I messed up the first one when I tried to update the Bios and it was, prior to that, working fine. Also needed a working computer straight away.) Anyway, the 2nd board lasted a year and then developed the faults mentioned on this site, noticed the caps were swollen so dug out the 1st board and swapped the cmos chip. Got a year out of that one too till the caps started swelling.I thought it was poor design, with the caps right next to the CPU heatsink!
Didn't know about this site until today otherwise could have repaired them.
I then bought an ASROCK K7S8XE + M/B got a year out of that (till last week) but the symptoms as described here started earlier, lockups, reboots,
and having to push the reset button up to 20 times b4 the thing would actually initialize the video card!
So now have an MSI PM8M2-V. Hope I'm not back in a year with the same "bad luck" yarn

The pictures I see of that MSI board show the little blue caps, not sure of brand, around the cpu socket. Those did not last long on the Asus boards if I remember right.

      Re: Wintek and ASROCK MotherBoard

The ASRock board, interestingly, has Rubicon Caps around the CPU and they are (look) in perfect condition, no swelling. Same with a brand called TEAPO.
The brand that has swelled are around the ram slots and the AGP slot, away from the heat, and they are TAICON caps, green plastic sleeve, all 1000mfd/6.3v.
Rubicon caps, I'm pretty sure have been around even before I was a radio apprentice 37 years ago, so maybe they kept their integrity intact. The Johnny come latelies?...well that's another story

Teapo are OK, but they've been known to sometimes fail quietly without bulging. If you're recapping it, recap both the Taicons and the Teapos.

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)
          by dragon3x
Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
          power on.

          Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
          switching supply area).
          (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
          than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
          I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.
          3300 microF/6.3 V. x 4 replaced by 3300 microF/6.3 V. (KYOCERA...

          Asrock B450 Pro4 motherboard won't power on.
          by broke_boi
          Hello all,

(I am just getting into electronics repair so excuse the noobness )

I have an Asrock B450 Pro 4 motherboard which doesn't power on. I have access to the Broadview file.

I have checked that the PSU is working. I have the 5V standby on pin 9 and the 5V PSON# on pin 16. When I short the pin 16 and the ground I see the fan running and other voltages as well.

I have removed everything from the motherboard except the CPU fan and have only connected the 24pin power from the PSU. I have not connected the 12V power from the PSU...

Motherboard not booting up Issue - ASRock IMB-150
          by Dergal T Stonkerson
I have an ASRock motherboard (IMB-150) with Mini-Sata Solid State Drive. I have removed the SSD card and re-inserted. After re-inserting the device will not boot up. During boot up error displayed "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key".

Connections on motherboard and ssd card look in good condition, no signs of wear or damaged connections.

During boot up I pressed F2 to select UEFI setup menu and mSATA 3IE is listed as boot device with no other option available.

          Anyone have some advice...

Asrock a320m-hdv motherboard not turning on
          by netgearnetgear
          Good day members,
I have a asrock a320m-hdv motherboard that does not turn on. This weird thing is that it turns ON when I heat the motherboard in the vicinity of the m2 slot with a blow dryer. The there is a capacitor and resistor in parallel that has a voltage of 1.79v and 819mV on either ends. When I heat the board and it turns ON, the voltage is 1.79v and 803 mV. It turns OFF and ON normally if I wait a few minutes. On the other hand if I wait for an hour or more it does not turn ON anymore. I have to heat that area again and then it works. I noticed slight heat for example from my...
