    Philips 42PF7220A/37B Plasma HDTV

I picked this up through Craigslist, and it is a heavy sucker. The seller reported the 'flashing red light at startup problem', but could not reproduce the problem in his garage. I got it home and after it cooled off (the temp in his garage was over 90°F) it would intermittently begin flashing the red light at startup. If it did start, it seemed to work OK for a 4 year old plasma set. (The panel has some 'burn' from displaying predominately SD images)

Opening it up, I found a pair of 3300 uF, 10 V Samhwa caps in the power supply had bulging tops, the typical cause of this problem. NOW comes the problems.

Searching for '42PF7220A flashing red led' produces numerous hits. Most indicate the typical result of these caps failing is the red light flashing 7 times. This flashes a code 63, which indicates a panel failure. Is this a case of a noisy power supply generating errors, or is this beast going to die shortly?

The power supply seems to have a mixture of Samwha and Samxon caps, with possibly other brands mixed in. Samxon seems to be generally regarded as a good brand, but I wasn't able to find a definitive answer on Samwha. Any opinions? I'm quite willing to replace all the caps IF I could be confident the panel is going to last.

I've replaced the two caps. This requires removing and replacing about 60 screws. This fixed the turn-on problems and resulted in an improvement in picture clarity. The small amount of screen 'burn' is still visible, but not particularly obtrusive. The TV is now in my wife's office. The final accounting is:

Used, semi working 42" plasma TV $100.00
    Two capacitors, including shipping. $4.16
    An appreciative wife - priceless!!!

The only downside: Soon hints will be dropped that replacing her DirecTiVo SD-DVR with a DirecTV HD-DVR would be much appreciated.

I think I heard that Samwha is an ally of Nippon Chemicon.

Though I still regard them as mediocre caps (like Teapo) at best.
Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

The opinions I found here went both ways.

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
          by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture
          by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
          Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
          Will start troubleshooting tonight.

Philips Pus 436401/12 flashing backlights question
          by KevM
hi had loads of help from this forum getting TVs back up and running but seem to be hitting a brick wall with this one.
Backlights failed before Xmas so ordered a new set and after replacing them and putting the set back together was delighted to see it work for 15 seconds only for the picture to flash on and off and a quick look round the back confirmed the backlights were flashing on and off

I have a steady 44v at +vled and a fluctuating 0v to 10v at -vled when the light start flashing, a steady Bl-on voltage and steady dim voltage.
If i disconnect 2 strings of leds...
