    Trying to defend a house

I fear that my newly bought summer house will be burgled someday when I'm in the city. So I was recommended to install cameras and Ajax security system to protect it. It does not cost a lot compared to other systems (only briefly compared actually). I suppose it will be more expensive soon due to their progressive products and nice design. It's easy to control the situation through their application, and not only cameras. What are your thoughts on it? I've never used such systems before and that's why I need recommendations.
    Thanks in advance!

A good camera system combined with Sam Colt, they'll leave you alone. A large mean dog helps too.

4MP Hikvision HD-TVI cameras are decent option, while being inexpensive, but stable and with reasonable quality. There are DVR-s with Alarm output.
If you are interested, I if you provide details about the height and distance, I can even narrow down your options.
Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
      1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

Hello. If you need any recommendations on the topic of security systems, then you should definitely watch the explanatory videos on YouTube. In general, I found some interesting videos lasting about an hour. In particular, these videos explain all the advantages of such wireless security systems as ajax, which you mentioned. I think that you should spend a little of your time in order to view this entire compilation of videos and draw conclusions for yourself personally. I can send you a link to such videos in PM, if you are still interested.

          Antenna...
          by SolomonMan
          All,
I recently moved to a very rural area. I am about 25 miles from the nearest urban settings (2 separate College Towns). 45-50 miles from a Urban City (Toledo Ohio)

There was a Omni-directional Wineguard Antenna (amplified) that was mounted on the house originally. Came with the house. Center of the top of Roof a few feet from Chimney on a 4 foot pole. The 75 ohm line went from the roof down 2-3 stories to the small Wineguard amplifier and then it split to the living room and master bedroom. Currently a Very simple setup.

Since we moved in, 8 years ago,...

DVR recorder Switching power supply Failure
          by sam_sam_sam
When I originally started with my DVR recorder it had 4 individual switching switching power supply’s that were sh*t so I bought a 7 amp 12 volt switching power supply and modified the output plug and put a four output power supply cable to match the input power supply cable inputs

Which worked for over 14 years until a few days ago when the cameras went dark no picture anymore well it turns out now the switching power supply has stopped working altogether now so I have to troubleshoot what has happened to this power supply more later on today what I found

CCTV cameras: single PSU or individual PSUs ?
          by Dannyx
Good day folks. Having installed, or at least dealt with, a modest amount of cameras as part of my current job, I came across one aspect which seems to divide us in two schools of thought: those who suggest that a single PSU run ALL cameras and those who suggest that each camera have its individual power brick. For now, we went with the second option for all our installs, which is messier and takes longer to set up, but offers better redundancy, since if one brick were to fail, the rest would still remain up, whereas with a single supply....well, if it fails, ALL cameras go out. A single supply...

          UNI-T UT139B Bad Measurements
          by EJC_LeBron
          Hi people!!

Since two years I've been working with my UNI-T UT139B multimeter without problems. Since monday, it started to work wrong.
The first thing I noticed was when I was measuring my house supply voltage (it should be around 220v), but my device showed 190v. Later I've tried to measure a 9v battery and it showed 7.5v.

I've compared my device with other and I've realized mine was broken. I've opened it, all apears to be in excellent conditions. I've cleaned it but the problem continued.

Anyone had a similar problem? Anyone have an idea about which...
