are you sure that Ellyt is the brand? i have seen several catalogues to use that as a general description for electrolytic caps. tell us the writing on a cap or show a photo

Ok, I need some more help. I have a friend who is replacing the caps but we ran in some trouble. I thought all 25 caps where the same. He saw that they were different after he took them of the motherboard. Now we don´t know which is going where.

So i would be very grateful if someone could point out which of the 25 caps is the ones that are 1000 uF at 16V.

I bought 25 caps that had the 1800 uf 6.3V

So I need to go to the store tomorrow and get five 1000 uF 16V

He who took it apart got 20 caps of 1800 uF and 5 caps of 1000 uF. from the motherboard.

The list above shows which capacitor value corresponds to what is written on the board next to each capacitor. if you check the photo above, you will see what the writing on the board looks like.

I do not have enough photos to be certain about all the capacitors.

in the below photograph in yellow is shown what i see from the photos to be the 1800s. In red is an area with 7 capacitors. of those 7 capacitors i believe that 2 are 1800 and the other 5 are 1000.

these values should correspond to those 7 capacitors

if the list does not agree with your board then do not proceed with the job because if you put a 6.3 at a position where a 16v should be it that capacitor will not last long.

i will ask sheldon to come by and check what i have said.

this photo looks good. i think the 1000s are the X capacitors. if this agrees with Sheldon's list then go ahead.

I had a problem locating short caps that would fit into the iMac chassis. I had one cap that was bulging and I called apple and they came out and replaced my power supply and midplane. No fuss no muss. Came right to my house.

So I never did a cap replacement. If you do replace caps yourself be careful of the height of them, particularly the ones near the middle by the stand.
