I have seen many mentions of "strapping" on these forums but still do not know what the manufacturer means by this as shown in Example below: Also does anyone have a good reference for terms used by Asian manufacturers such as "stitch" in lower right of Example 2

Re: Define: Strapping
Strapping is usually a set of pull-up/pull-down resistors with either one populated to configure some feature of a chip. For example on "Example.pdf" you have SYS_CONFIG0/1 that are either pulled down by R7R6/R7R7 or pulled-up by R7R15/R7R8, to set the configuration bit to 0 or 1. Here schematics say "EMPTY" for the pull-ups so they're probably always pulled-down so set to 0.
One popular example of strapping resistors is on laptops with soldered-on RAM: there are strapping resistors to select the correct SPD profile according to the RAM chips on the board. in a pcb circuit drive a fluerescent lamp
there is a component that writes 5n6j 1200volt ahas green color
on the place writes c4 thats mean is capacitor and there is shunt whith multimeter
i test the lamp without this but again it doesnt light
can you tell me what value is this component ; -

these pictures are from an electrical heater
can you understand what component was before damaged ;
maby its a triac and the reason that causes this result is bad resistor ;... -
by benareenoIt seems like this should be possible...just the outer screen and diffusion screen from say TCL...could I not use that to fix an LG? Just throwing some manufacturers out there...

by Ady2017Hi all
I need to replace a 680uF 35V SamYoung NXB cap which has got a ripple of 1820. Whilst passing my local little electronics shop I picked up what they had in stock which was a 680uF 35V Panasonic FC with a ripple of 1655.
As the ripple rating is only 9% below what the original was I am wondering whether to risk it and fit it.
The catalogues specify a capacitance tolerance of +/-20% but state nothing about the ripple. If there is a similar tolerance for ripple then I might be worrying about nothing. Does anybody know?
Thanks-

by ChaosFlowerHi
I have acquired two very good condition vintage amplifiers: both are Technics 900mkII circa 1995.
They both work fine. Inside they looked great. The caps still look good (I will investigate properly later with an esr meter etc). I note with interest that most of the caps are identical and made by Panasonic, however, there are some capacitor differences here and there. For example, in one of the units there is a cap made by TK Japan, and several small yellow Elnas. In the other unit I think they are all Panasonic.
There doesn't appear to have been any repair...-
