Long time no post guys! But I remembered to drop by here when this system stumped me today.
I'm working on an Intel S5000XVN for a customer. When I press F2 to enter the BIOS, it says "Entering Setup..." on the screen, but then proceeds to boot the OS, no matter what I do.
If I disconnect all drives from the SATA ports, it will go into the BIOS on its own.
It also changes the boot priority on its own. I'm not sure how to explain it. But if I connect only the DVD drive, I can boot from that. But after connecting the SSD with the OS on it, it still only boots from the DVD drive. Taking the disc out will cause it to attempt PXE boot, and it won't go further even though the SSD is connected. The same happens if I use just the SSD. It seems to kill off the DVD drive until I disconnect the SSD.
And since the BIOS won't load with any drives connected, I can't manually set the boot order. And with no drives connected and BIOS loaded, there are no devices to set as boot priorities. Know what I mean? I'm stumped at this point.
