    power question

when i turn off my system i notice that the optical sensor on my mouse is STILL lit up.... it seems that USB is STILL getting power even when the computer is closed down.

    is this actually normal??

seems the only way to turn that off is using the PSU switch

    Re: power question

In some MOBO the USB ports are powered from 5V Stand By so if you shut down your PC but it remains connected to mains, the stand by power is still on.

In some MOBO you can select, by internal jumpers, if you want USB ports powered by 5V St-by or normal 5V; in the last case if you turn off system also USB ports are off.

    Check you MOBO manual.

      Re: power question

Yes it is normal. Some motherboards do this to allow USB devices to power them on.
This is "stevo1210" reporting in with this "new" emergency account as my other account doesn't work properly.

And some doesn't cut the 5V for usb at shutdown.
