    AMD and Registred ECC Memory...

Does anyone have any experience with this shit?

I myself got a 939 System (ASUS Board) working with 2 2GiB Memory modules.

Just 4 phun Iwas testing my AM2(+) Rig and it worked as well, though I only have 512MiB modules (for my DELL Raid controller) and didn't test it with a K10 based CPU...

Do you have tried something like that?

Athlong 64 processors have the ram contoller in the CPU, i guess only opternon models will support ECC ram.

not guessing you shall, trying you should

      But no:
Every 754/939/AM2/AM3 or plus CPU supports ECC RAM, you just need the right board.
MSI for example doesn't at all support ECC RAM, ASUS and AFAIR also ASROCK do.

So, no, it's not exclusive to the Opterons.

I know because I was bored and put some registred ECC DDR-2 SDRAM in my System. And unexpectedly, it bootet with the Athlon 6000+ (Brisbane).

Than I changed the CPU and put my C2 Step Phenom II 955BE in the same thing and it doesn't boot no more. So I'd guess it's safe to assume that this CPU doesn't support registred ECC RAM in the Desktop Version no more.

That's because the I/O things like memory controllers were redesigned for the Phenom CPU line. And (sadly) they used the same shit for the Bulldozer CPUs as well...
