    DG33SZG2 and SATA

This gateway with the DG33SZG2 Mobo is setup with the bios set to RAID for the RAID controller. The problem is that they didn't configure the disks as a raid. They also didn't configure them as AHCI. So it only boots up with the bios set to raid. So it looks like the disks are actually working in IDE mode.

Is there any way to set the bios to AHCI without having to reinstall VISTA?

If I plug in another SATA drive will it also be seen as just another drive or will it have a problem because the bios are set to RAID?

You could probably install the AHCI drivers in advance, then switch the BIOS. I've tested this on various HP and Lenovo machines with XP. It works fine.

My testing shows no performance advantage at all for AHCI vs. "Legacy".

And... legacy does not require unique drivers slipstreamed into the CD.

GIGABYTE X299 AORUS ULTRA GAMING - SATA PORTS 4-7 NOT WORKING ???
      by DynaxSC
      Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

Getting Windows to boot after changing SATA from RAID to AHCI
      by canadaboy25
Hey guys I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get Windows 10 to boot up and install drivers after changing the bios settings for the sata port from raid to ahci.

My motherboard is an Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0 and when I built the PC I set all of the sata ports to raid mode. There is one setting for ports 1-4 and one setting for port 5 and the esata port. I currently have 4 drives set up in two raid 1 arrays on ports 1-4. My ssd containing Windows 10 is plugged into port 5. I also have an external esata enclosure with a 2tb drive that I use as a Windows backup plugged into...

Lenovo 11e problems (any sata hdds are not recognized, sleep battery drain)
      by clabr
Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them...
