Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

Excuse me while i do something dangerous

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

I know a few people running 10 as a VM.

I uninstalled that update for 10. The KB3035583 one. It reinstalled itself. So I uninstalled it again and it tried to install itself again. It's like a damn virus. I turned off automatic updates because of it. Now I have that damn symbol for updates available permanently in my start tray.

I think you have optional updates installing automatically. It should just be in the optional software list under updates as it isn't essential.

No sir, it always says it has four optional available but "some" recommended are ready for install. If I don't install them they install automatically themselves, but not the optional. Now I have it selected to just tell me when a recommended is available. If I stopped that I suppose that symbol would disappear from the start tray, but how would I know when a security is ready for install? I think Gates is coming for me. He got us all coming and going. I read somewhere that windows 10 was free because it's a subscription. You have to pay a fee every year or they shut it down. Basically you rent it. I also heard 7 will be supported until 2020, so I guess I'll stick with it at least until then.

It's been in my optional updates since it was released my Microsoft.
There are many rumours swirling around regarding Windows 10. I've seen nothing confirming the subscription model for the OS but hints it's for addons like OneDrive and of course Office365. Enterprise pay every year, I can't seeing it working for the home market.
Yes Windows 7 will be patched until 2020.

MS has not denied the rumors.
                so they are probably true.

29th April is the release date.
                  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/06...free_upgrades/

I've seen nothing to suggest yearly subs for the core OS, just rumblings from the tin foil hat brigade. Holding the users files to ransom or blocking internet access ? I really can't see that.
They want everyone on the same platform going app crazy and also paying for OneDrive and Office365 yearly.

                    wait till they enforce "cloud-login"
then we will see how fast people realise the importance of the net!!!

Can't see it happening. No benefit to Microsoft or the user.
They might heavily suggest using a Microsoft email like they do with 8/8.1 but it's not forced. There are many users that don't have internet access.

That update installed automatically before I knew what it was for. I never uninstalled it, but it appeared in Windows update again a couple weeks ago.

I think hiding an update prevents Windows from installing it. In Windows Update, right-click on the update and choose "Hide update." That's what I did when KB3035583 came up again.

Strangely, I haven't seen any Windows updates since.

KB3035583 and KB2952664 (the two Windows 10 "preparation" updates) were installed on my computer, even though I unchecked and hid them when they appeared in Windows Update. I tried to uninstall both, but KB2952664 did not actually uninstall. It still appears in the list of installed updates, but the date it was installed changed to today's date. I might have to disable automatic updates.

assuming "disable automatic updates." still works as you expect!

I was thinking about that. Those two updates were already installed without my permission and without any indication that Windows was installing updates.

No wonder!strange things are happening with the updates,
i'm running win10 build 10074 installed from an ISO clean install, and the other day when i went to use my Desktop i had build 9926,i was surprised since i did nothing to go to an early build, it would be understandable if i was updating builds, but i never had build 9926,this is strange,
i wonder what is MS trying to test on us?

that's exactly what they intend to do with 10'
patch and install bits of the o.s. as they see fit, when they feel like doing it.

the version is an obvious fuckup though, probably someone applied a patch to the source and forgot to update the revision number before compiling and pushing it.

Whenever I see a post reminding me just how much more inept and confusing each new Windows release is, I take the time to look at the existing alternatives:

"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

                                      very funny and very wrong.

                                      60% browsing,
30% watching video (offline, not streaming)
                                      9% playing games
                                      1% developing software - mostly M.A.M.E. stuff.

windows users are people i make fun of, trying to convert them is like trying to convert a jehova's witness.
mac users are radical extremists that worship apple, the computer could be running DOS and they would still argue that it was the best o.s.
