    ADI1988 Soundmax Frequency Volume

So I had to switch from the trusty Realtek HD platform to this one, which is let's just say not as good as Soundmax. It cuts out in BF1942 with HW Acceleration enabled and has only very slight glitching without it (I'm using Windows XP x64, maybe this isn't an issue on regular Windows XP). The main problem I had was that the volume was way under-amplified out of the box.

I managed to hack in a later driver that was released by Intel by adding the device ID, and the driver is version 5.10.2.6600, but the low volume stayed the same.

I was reading a post today on a Yahoo search, and I got an idea to explore the mixer a little but, and lo and behold, I came up with this:

    Which then gave me this:

Now this more than solved the low volume problem. It is just as loud now, if not louder than the Realtek HD. The problem is that with all the sliders set on the highest, the sound has too much bass in it. I'm not sure what type of curve to set that would match the default setting. Does anyone have any experience with this?

No idea. Maybe just reinstall the drivers?

Or you can try to loop the audio output back to line in and play some white noise. Use the FFT/Spectrum Analyzer in Virtual Analyzer and adjust EQ in real time untill you get a flat line on the.
Should work... in theory. And maybe fun to mess around with Virtual Analyzer if you have the time.

      Thanks, that's a great idea.

I want to keep these drivers, because I need these controls to boost the volume. The only thing is, I want to boost it properly so that I have the right balance of bass and treble.

I will give it a shot.

Vizio D65x-G4 Volume changes on its own
        by karthur
On this Vizio D65x, the volume will change on its own. I don't mean like during commercials where the volume will increase. I mean its like the (+) volume button on the remote is pressed and the actual volume dialog is displayed on the screen going up. It will do this, then the volume may start going down. It might go all the way to "0"or it might stop at a different number, then start going back up. The whole time its doing this, the volume dialog is shown on the screen.

It wont do it until it has been "ON" for 20 or 30 minutes, so it does seem to be heat related....

Sony HCD-HX80R Amplifier Volume Control Problem
        by crackedprint
I have a strange fault on a Sony amplifier. The volume control varies the display from MIN, then 1 up to 30 and then MAX as expected. At MIN there is no sound. However, at 1 it is quite loud and increasing above 1 does not change the sound level.

I have tried a Cold Reset as per the service manual.

I have looked at the I2C clock and data to volume control chip IC501 (BD3499FV). Data is only sent to IC501 when the volume is set to MIN or 1. At any other setting no data is sent to IC501.

I have looked all the way through the service manual and tried many online...

Marantz SR5007 popping on volume change and mute in Direct Mode
        by BigOof
        Hi,

I bought a used Marantz SR5007 and it's giving me some issues that I can't seem to really place. It functions well in most settings, ARC mostly works, it has no issues driving my speakers in any of the digital input modes, but I'm having issues running analog inputs in direct or pure direct mode. For some reason in this mode there's distortion for every volume increment I give it, but once the volume is stable it has no issues. Muting creates a loud pop, switching to another source also causes a pop and so does turning off the amp in that mode. Again, no issue in the digital modes....

Samsung Soundbar Q900T Cuts Off if Volume above 30
        by Storyteller12
I have this soundbar and when I turn it on it works until I turn the volume above 30.
Then the display show “PROT” protection and shuts off.

I can turn it right back on and it works until volume hits 30 again.

There is a little static on the surround speakers so I unplugged them but still have same problem. I tried unplugging all speakers also and when volume goes above 30 it shuts off.

I can turn the volume above 30 if nothing is playing but as soon as I play something it shuts off.

It will play fine for hours with volume...

RCA WHP141 wireless headphones wired up
        by momaka
OK, this one dates back to 2015! I thought I had posted this, but realized I didn’t when I posted a picture of something else. So here it goes…

Back in 2015, I bought a pair of RCA WHP141 wireless headphones at Micro Center for $2. I even mentioned it in the best cheap/free scores thread right here. Just forgot to follow up with that.

As mentioned back then, these are (were) 900 MHz FM wireless headphones. No modern day Blutooth or anything like that. I knew they wouldn’t be great headphones or even that good… but the price was right! So let’s take...
