CH341A bios chip wont fit 1.8v adaptor holder

Hi guys, I need a bit of help. I use a CH341A programmer, which is fine for 3.3v old-style bios chips. I need to reprogram some 1.8v chips, which are QFN type chips. I have the 1.8v adaptor for that slots onto the programmer, which does step the voltage down to 1.8v, but as you can see in the picture added, it doesn't fit in the IC holder.

Please see the 4th picture that shows what looks like what should work for the QFN IC (highlighted in red). The issue is that the 8 pads on the programmer are too long and short out the IC. Is it a case of putting kapton tape over the center ground pad or is there another way or a different adaptor that can be used? Any help will be appreciated

I could be wrong, but I believe all the adapters in your pictures are designed for SOIC/SOP-style chips. Since you're working with a QFN/WSON package, those adapters won't fit properly.

To program your chip, you can try one of the following methods, ranked from easiest to hardest:

    1. **QFN8/WSON8 to DIP8 adapter** – This allows you to insert your chip into an adapter with a locking mechanism (not sure of the exact term).

    2. **QFN8/WSON8 in-circuit test probers/clips** – If these align properly and make good contact, this might actually be the easiest method.

    3. **QFN8/WSON8 adapter board** – Requires a hot air station for proper soldering.

    4. **Manual wiring to an SOP8 breakout board** – If you're in a hurry, you could solder thin wires directly from the chip to a breakout board. This is the hardest method but works if you’re comfortable with fine soldering.

P.S. I haven't personally tested these methods or products.

This adaptor in your picture won't work correctly as its not for QFN type chips. Its for ICs with legs, the ground pin on the bios IC is too big and shorts the connection. I have ordered one of these in the picture for anyone else who needs help on this subject. Its called a WSON8 To DIP8 Programmer Adapter Board QFN8/DFN8. Thanks for everyone's helpClick image for larger version

Problem Flashing Macronix MX25L6445E BIOS Chip with CH341A and EZP2019+ on ASUS X455LD
            by pengamat_hebat
            Hello everyone,

I'm trying to flash the BIOS chip Macronix MX25L6445E from my ASUS X455LD laptop using both a CH341A and an EZP2019+ programmer, but I keep encountering issues.

Reading the chip works perfectly, and I can extract the BIOS dump without any problems.

However, erasing and writing fail every time, regardless of the software I use. (Neo, asprog, ch341, etc)

I also tried applying 3.3V to pin 3, but it still didn't work.

I attempted to unprotect the chip, but when I read it back, the registers remained unchanged.

How to use CH341A to program ENE io chip or startup chips
            by mnciks11
            Hello guys

I've seen that it's possible to program the ENE chips using the CH341A programmer, one of my buddies was about to send me information how to do it but I lost his contacts…

I have a gaming laptop with physical burnt ENE CHIP , the programmable one , can someone please guide me or send me information on how to do it .

Thank you , I believe this will assist others...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
            by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Unable to verify IC or write/erase/flash BIOS file to XMC QH128AHIG SPI chip using NeoProgrammer/AsProgrammer
            by testaccgta
            Hi, everyone!

I've recently acquired two brand new SPI chips to replace the one currently in my Acer A514-54G laptop MB (FH5AT LA-K092P). The reason why I'm replacing the current SPI chip is because I had some difficulties with a third-party IT assistant who pretty much lacked the soldering skills and ended up destroying the current SPI chip soldered to my MB from factory.

I've decided to do this on my own because I spent the past month or so learning some soldering skills and BIOS modding through Badcaps and WinRaid forums, hence the attempt. I've also chosen to buy...

ASRock B650M PRO RS - BIOS CHIP 25Q256JW BLOCKED BY STATUS REGISTERS
            by DynaxSC
            Hi

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...
