A Card that improves Image/Audio Quality

Hi there, im new to this board and is a newbie to modding stuff.

recently i have come across a mod for the X-Fi xtrememusic soundcard,
    http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=229350
a soundcard which i currently have. (i still want to know which Caps is related to the power to the front channel opamp, anyone knows? ^^). then i was looking into interference shielding.

and i discovered a toy made by a Japanese about 3 years ago, Well i know about this about a year ago, but thought it was just a toy and have no function at all until yesterday. the "NO-PCI" card. which will lower the interference for Analog outputs (TVcards/Soundcards.)

    its proven that it works

here is a problem, the "limited edition" which is better, are sold out. and i would like to buy an ordinary one and upgrade it to the limited edtion specs (or better).

here is how the special edition looks like:

why not forget that gimmick and just use oscons at the pci bus supply bypass caps?
what does that silly thing cost anyway?

thanks for ur reply, kc8adu, there are 4 versions which varies from 25-38us.

can you explain a little on "use oscons at the pci bus supply bypass caps"?

Look at your particular board, determin wich caps are near the PCi bus and are caring 5v or the some other PCi related voltages.
Then replace all of those caps with Sany Oscons and you may have improved mor than this card could ever do.

Appart form this, i think if this card is carefully desinged and does eliminate noise from the data lines too, i think the price is ok.
But if it does only add some filter caps to the supply, then i thing kc8 suggestion is far bether, as it tackles with the root cause (=lousy bad caps for PCi decoupling, on most boards there are many empty silkscreen spaces in that particular area too) of this problem

If it was say $1 I would get it for the silkscreening/board etching.

I'm curious if the primary reason that these product works (reportedly) is because it shields the audio/video cards much the same as a foam/silverpaper layered mod would

It is far to cheap to ever make it to the top of this section.
If it would cost about 200$ to 500$ then may be it would make it in on of those various audiophiles guru guides.
But i think it is violating some basic rules there: no OFC cooper is mentioned, no silver nor gold plating, no mysterious working principle is mentioned.
It is just to real and explainable than any of those gurus would be kind enough to bother with it.

So far from any mysteries i think it could be possible, that there could be some sound improvements form it.
But sure, i would probably not buy it myself too.
